Has anyone ever been in a personal injury case? A year and a half ago I was in a wreck and my chiropractor suggested I get on one, I can tell you its a pain in the butt and I better get my doctor bills paid. The attorney`s helper just called and I complained about the unpaid bills, she told me send them $5 till they are paid off by the insurance company, that way they will not go into a collection agency. I hope I get money but I see it will take another six months or more, I love the law but nothing about it is fast.

Some attorneys are better than others. I don't think any doctor would accept $5 payments.

@andriaperry Very true. I was once billed for the cost of an MRI. For some reason my doctor never got the referral. A year later I get the bill, and am told I have to pay for it. It was $1,200. I told them I could give them a lump sum of $200, or they could get payments of $5 a month until it's paid off. They can't turn you down as long as you pay something, and they can't charge interest.

By law they cannot refuse any payment.

I have not personally been in a case. My friend who was took forever, years, to get the insurance companies to resolve it.

I don't think my case applies. I was once in an accident with an uninsured motorist. It was his fault. I had coverage for an uninsured motorist occasion, so I was eligible to get up to $50,000 from my insurance based on what my doctor bills were. I too went to a chiropractor for a while. I'm glad I didn't have to get a lawyer because that would have been so much money. However, I did have to get a lawyer when filing for disability for the 3rd time.

I've never been in that type of accident, knock on wood. I hope things work out for you soon.

I was involved in two rear end collisions in a 6 month period of time (two different drivers and I was a passenger both times). My back was a mess. And yes, it took forever to settle but I never had to pay anything along the way. I had a pretty good attorney handling everything. And a great doctor who made sure that when all was said and done, I was in good shape. I really hope yours gets settled soon!

@andriaperry I'm so sorry to hear that. No one should ever have a bad doctor.

That doesn't seem right you have to pay the attorney before you even get the money!

I've never been involved in a personal injury lawsuit but I know they can take forever to get settled. Hope you can get your bills paid and your case gets settled sooner rather than later

I would hate getting involved in anything like this but sometimes there are few options.

Haven't been in one myself but a friend of mine was. She was sort of a hippie How she got herself into the case I don't know...think it was because she was in a car with friends and it got crashed into and they all got pretty serious injurys. When I knew her it was a year after and she still couldn't walk properly. She decided to move to brazil and work with street kids and when the lawyer said he could send her a cheque she said she didn't want itshe was a bit weird in some ways.
