Ignore the Clock

Dove's message for me and you.

Many days we get too busy living by the clock. We have deadlines to beat, appointments we should not miss, a flight, schedules and so on and so forth. Even online games are by the clock. And so when I ate a piece of Dove milk chocolate I got the message "Ignore the clock" and I was shaking my head. But I realized that there is more to that message. We should once in a while take a break and really ignore the clock. Forget about deadlines and loads of work and spend quality time with family and with friends. There are times when you get caught up in a good conversation with your mom or your best friend and you do not notice the time. That kind of ignoring the clock. And admittedly at times when I am myLotting before preparing for work, I unintentionally ignore the clock getting into interactions too much. Do you always live by the clock? Would you like to ignore it at times?

I can say that yes, I do live by the clock. However, I also regularly unplug. During my unplugged moments, I live in the moment.

I'm retired. I need the clock for appointments and times to meet friends or family. Otherwise, I'm as free as a bird.

@nottoooldtowrite I understand, but I know you don't want to wish the best years of your life away. We all have to pay our dues to retirement.

As of now, I ignore it. I rely more on body clock and stick to my fixed schedule in teaching online.

i still wear a watch when i'm out so i know if it's time to go or do something else because sometimes you forget the passage of time when you're inside a building. a few weeks ago, i wanted to treat myself to a chocolate bar and was deciding between dove dark and kitkat peanut butter. i chose to try the latter first, and it was worth it. i might choose dove next time because of this wrapper message that i didn't know about and see what i'll get. i guess it's like a fortune cookie, or those ribbons you pull out from a wedding cake.

I do wear a watch all the time too. The Dove chocolates with messages are those mini chocolates. Not sure if they sell here in the Philippines.

That's true. Waking up by the clock to go to work and all that. But I am glad I have weekends to forget the clock temporarily.

i am time-conscious. although i don't wear a wrist watch when i go to the city proper, i check the time in my phone. most of the time too, i am always aware of our mealtime here. when my sister ignores the time we eat, i always remind her about it; not because i am hungry already, but i prepare the food and feed the dogs, so they won't have hyper-acidity due to delayed meal time

@nottoooldtowrite i agree. there are some times that we feel that time should not hurry or let the hands of the clock move. this is when we are in an activity that we wish would not end. hahaha!

I would love to ignore the clock, but our modern life obliges us to live by the clock every day.

@nottoooldtowrite There are so many appointments and events that we must respect that it is impossible to forget about the clock.

True. We just need a breather sometimes and we do temporarily escape from the stress of living by the clock. At least for my living by my corporate clock.

That's nice. My current job requires living by the clock as I have meetings to go to and deadlines to beat. Other tha that, things are up to me.

Mostly I live my day by the clock and even if my want to ignore time my job won't permit me to do so. But then the vacation comes, and thats the time I spent with my friends, family and who cares about the clock then.
