Blowing Leaves Today

United States
March 25, 2017 1:44pm CST
I must get out this afternoon and get the last of the leaves blown off the driveway and carport. I'm tired of looking at them. Since the new leaves are now showing up I have to assume most of the old ones have dropped. I love the leaf blower but the cord is a pain. My only outdoor outlet is on the other side of the house and so I have to plug it in from the patio and go through a door which catches it so I have to pull it all the way through first before letting the door close on the cord. Its so heavy! It takes about a hour to do the entire job right. I put it off but it looks so great once the job is done. What chore do you put off until the before/after comparison is dazzling?

We used to have a huge problem with leaves at my old house. It seemed that leaves from all the neighbor's would blow over to our side door and become a huge mound. We hated having to deal with those. These days, I can't really think of any chores I put off.

@Jeanniemaries Well, it's much easier these days. I now have a place that's easier to clean and that really fits my lifestyle. And over time, I've learned to do little bits of cleaning every day as well as keeping on top of clutter every day, so there's never really any time for anything to get out of control. I could never have done this at my house all by myself. But sometimes I close my eyes and visit the house, just to remember. And it makes me smile. Have a great day!

@CRK109 You have a new life. It's good to revisit, in your thoughts, the house where you were so happyl It will keep your memories fresh and help you remember small details. I have it a bit harder because my husband picked up after me as much as I did him, So now I have to do it all and sometimes I get behind because I really just want to do art, go out and such. Just play. So I have to keep after myself. We were much better as a team keeping the house really tidy.

The list would be so long, you'd be up until midnight reading it!

@Jeanniemaries Why should we do anything that we can get someone else to do for us?

Me too. All I want to do is play anymore. I think I have regressed into childhood.

@PatZAnthony It's true. If I'm busy doing something I think it's OK, if I was just bored and not doing anything, I should make the effort to do it. Fortunately for me, I am never bored.

We have an electric blower which we're offering at the car boot sale. It is actually our friends'. They have a petrol-driven one now. Our own has a cord too and it can be a nuisance.

Yes, I think pulling the cord over and over to get it started would be difficult.

At least you do not have to sweep it all haha even though the cord gives you pain, it seems a lot easier to do. It may be bad but I had making my bed, putting new sheets on, it end is rewarding, but getting to it is a pain haha!

It's easy to put off because no one sees it.

@Jeanniemaries Haha very easy I just don't like the pain that happens because my best is positioned oddly.

One chore I often put off is washing my car, especially if it's cold outside during the winter. Their's nothing worse than freezing your hands off from water while using a hose. Raking the lawn, which I usually do after the autumn leaves have fallen, isn't exciting work to me either. But you have to do what you have to do.

Our autumn is so late that these are the autumn leaves! It's crazy here in Florida. I do a car wash, they have them here for $3.00 and it's much easier! We also have groups doing car washes all the time and I can support them and get a good hand washing and towel dry for a good price.

It's starting to get awfully cloudy and blustery outside so I don't think there will be any outdoor activities today, but maybe tomorrow. Good luck with the leaves.

I had to put it off until tomorrow. Something came up. Our weather was good though.
