Attending a Formal Event

I'll be attending a formal event in a while. I have to be there, I'm one of the so-called important guests. I don't really enjoy such things, wearing formal attire and trying to look neat and engage in formal conversations. I mean, what does it really mean to be formal? Do you have a clue?

Being formal, it means wear a suit and be politically correct.

Good thing such occasions are not part of my regular schedule. Can be stressful at times.

No I do not really know what it means, but I would like to do it sometimes, but not too often. That is not me.

Once in a while, it's okay. If it is required out of convention or culture, it can be annoying.

@dfollin I'm sure you have a formal attire waiting in your closet. How long since you've worn it?

by formal, this would mean, no giggles, smiling sweetly, noloud voice when conversing, and donning formal wear. hahaha... i hope you had a blast with that event.

To be formal is to switch from the casual things we usually do.

And if we're not used to it, can be difficult adjusting to it.

@magallon Right. Are there people who enjoy such events?

@Beatburn That is true.. It is difficult to act in a situation which we do not usually encounter. It is even harder to mingle with people who are used to be formal..

It means you are going to attend to a formal event - like the one you attended. And also, when applying for a job, we need to look presentable. We don't wear rugged jeans. How was the event?

I think it means for a man to wear a nice suit or tux and for a women to wear a nice dress. Clothes that you do no wear everyday.

Not my thing, but I have had situations when formal was required. Everything proper. These events can be fun or can be so boring! Hope you had a great time.

It was interesting and frankly, I enjoyed it. I didn't stay long after though and merely exchanged pleasantries with some guests. I bolted moments after the program.

Yes, BB, I do have a clue.... It means you have to wear a monkey suit and are not allowed to be yourself! I am sorry that has happened to you. Uhm... you could take a selfie and post it here.... We would all enjoy seeing the person we are always talking to/with. (hopeful expression! and maybe giggling a little bit at the thought of you wearing formal attire! but only a little bit!)

@DaddyEvil Or both! And ask mylotters which one suits me. Then again, it just might be removed as it will appear like a survey.

@Beatburn I look forward to seeing you in the monkey suit, BB! I am sure you COULD look very handsome! (But will you? Hmmm.... I suppose that depends on whether you post a picture of You in the monkey suit, or a monkey in a monkey suit!)

A long time ago I needed to go to events where I needed to be in formal attire. Not anymore. I prefer the casual life.
