A Funny Thing Happened

We had a sunny day but it was a trifle cool. I went out and stretched out in the swing pulling a light blanket over me. I was so comfortable under my blanket that I began dozing off. The sun was peeping through the tree tops on my face. It felt so relaxing. I was lying there dozing and relaxing when my better half stepped out the door and called my name. Wake up he said. The sun is shining on your face. You'll have a sun stroke. It wasn't even hot but he was concerned.I still don't know why he thought I would have a sun stroke. But it was so sweet of him.

maybe he meant sun burn and used the wrong words like i often do. you can get a sun burn in the shade i know especially if you are left to sleep in it for a while and a breeze is up a bit. so he likely saved you from that

Yes, you can. I used to get a sunburn every summer, but then I was out in the garden or at the lake. I wear long sleeves and a cap or hat when I go out now during the summer.

@RubyHawk once it was this time of year in Ohio many yrs. ago and myself and friends went to the beach but one kept her 9 month old baby under an umbrella because the sun was out but there was a lot of breeze going on. the baby got so burnt she had to take her to the doctor and the doctor said it was from something from the sun carried in the breeze. never understood it but that made me realize some people can easily get burned even when it don't seem like they should

Your days are obviously getting warmer, while ours are getting cooler.

It was thoughtful, I just never thought of getting a sunstroke lying in the swing wrapped up in a blanket. The sun was shining on my face though. If I had been out working on a hot day then I might have considered a sunstroke. It just struke me as funny that anyone would have concerns on a cool day.

It was. Actually it wasn't even hot. I had a light blanket over me. But the sun was on my face.

Even without it being really hot your face could have still burned. That was sweet of him to wake you.

It's better to be careful, the first sunny days can be dangerous and it's better to protect our face and our head.
