NO LOOKING BACK.

Do you have a habit which isn't doing you any good and you would like to be rid of? I had this bad habit of putting off for tomorrow what could be done today. Thankfully something happened to get me out of it and two years ago when I reflected on the strides I have made since losing that habit I thought of writing this poem. I hope you like it.
Under a cool, still, starry night;
About four hours before daylight.
A beautiful horse raced with great speed;
Barbary was indeed a magnificent steed.
Galloping across the desert sands;
Precious cargo grasping his mane with both hands.
Race they must, or end up dead;
Destination still three miles ahead.
Thundering behind, a mere hundred yards away;
Come a band of robbers whose intent is not to play.
Can Barbary outrun those bent on doing harm?
Will he reach their destination and raise an alarm?
Barbary is a determined , confident horse;
He knows he must get there at whatever cost.
Months of hope and planning could go down the drain;
The two may never get the chance to rise again.
In our journey through life we sometimes get slow and lazy;
Good things lie ahead - but we are distracted and hazy.
Sometimes a boost is needed to get us back on track;
Unpleasant it may be, but we know there is no looking back.
A Kandase original.

I know the joy I get when I do not procrastinate. I am disciplining myself in this area.
Great poem.

Beautiful poem. My bad habit is a reluctance to get out and do my daily walk

I loved it. you did a great job on it. The horse is a beautiful beast and a perfect metaphor for life. The phrase "no looking back" is a good though to use through your whole life.

My wife and I laugh at my habit of of saying "Domani" to many larger tasks that may or may not get done tomorrow.
