I was hurt when I lost him :(

When I was in the 3rd grade, I had a dog named kennie. Kennie's a male half jack russell terrier dog. A very sweet and playful one. One day, me, kennie, my mom and my little brother went ahead to the laundry shop to have our bunch or dirty clothes done. It wasn't just us because my uncle and my aunt were there too. Everyone's busy when I heard gunshots. I turned to see what's going on, my little brother who's 2years old then was behind my uncle who's being shot. He was just a few inches away from him. Mom quickly grabbed my little brother so we could hide. They killed my uncle and my dog saw that. Kennie ran towards home so he could get my dad to save us. Fortunately, dad's curiosity as to why he was barking at him, he followed the dog leading to us. And thank God we were saved. Kennie did not leave my side and helped me move on. Until I couldn't find him anywhere. I couldn't sleep and I had to look for him. Where I found him? laying dead in the bushes 5kms away from the house. They had to kill kennie. How did I know? Pretty obvious, dogs can lead you to where the crime scene was. Dogs can tell you who were the killers. They killed my dog. It took me 15 years to make myself ready to have another dog. That pain I felt when I saw him dead was unbelievable. He was my best friend. Walks with me everyday to school. Waits until I come home. Sits with me while I do my assignments. Goes with me anywhere. I can still remember the pain actually. I remember every bit of memory we have. He was my kennie. My best friend. I was hurt when I lost him.

No can ever replaced your kennie. But you know what? your dog is in doggie heaven by now and probably wants you to give your heart to another dog that also deserves your love.

You're right. He sent me a new one. I've got 4 german shepherds right now. One of them is delivering new ones hopefully next month. :)

I feel so sad after reading this. It must have been a very hard time for you and your family. My rabbit passed away 5 years back and since then I have never bought another rabbit again. I used to love her so much. I can understand how you felt when you lost kennie. Those people were so cruel to take the life of an innocent animal

I know and even if I already have forgiven them for killing my dog and killing my uncle, the scar of what they caused me remained. And yes, you're right. When you lost a pet, its gonna make it very hard to pick up another one because you're afraid history might repeat it. Good thing it did not. :)

@homebasedbobbie You did a good thing by forgiving but however it is very difficult to forget. But you are definitely someone strong for forgiving such bad people

Your experience of losing your uncle and Kennedy makes me cry reading it. I can only imagine the pain you felt and still feel. I've lost dogs before but never due to shooting. Having another dog won't replace Kennedy, but it will give you unconditional love just like knine did.

Thank you @OreoBrownie . Kennie is indeed irreplaceable. And yes you are right I still feel the pain however, I am happy knowing he will never be hurt again. I think both of them. My uncle and kennie. They are happy wherever they are.
