My Easter is both joyous and heartbreaking

I stayed up last night to watch the Easter Vigil Mass out of Boston and it was so beautiful. It reminded me of so many wonderful Easters in past years when I would attend Mass with my mother and my nephew and my husband, and even those years when I was singing with the choir. They did this particular Mass in both English and Spanish and while some of the music was in Spanish and I didn't understand, it was so upbeat and lovely that I really enjoyed it.
Meanwhile, the health of my cat continues to spiral down. While she did eat and drink a little bit yesterday, she hasn't used the litter box at all and today she's not eating or drinking at all. She just wants to sleep.
I tried giving her medication but got clawed badly in the process. My niece offered to come by with some food and to help me give the medication. My poor cat hated the whole process and then went and hid under the loveseat.
I do have to say, however, that it was wonderful having my niece here today. While it is Easter and even though I hadn't cooked anything (she's not feeling well so she didn't want to eat anything anyway), we caught up on a lot of things. She also has a cat who has been ailing, and so we commiserated on that front. I loved having the company. It really calmed me down for a little while and I'm so grateful that she could drive over here.
So the day has been full of blessings and sorrow. I canceled my ride to the YMCA tomorrow so I can be here when the vet calls. I do have a mammogram scheduled for Tuesday afternoon, and it's going to be difficult to leave for that. But I have to do it.
I hope you've all had a wonderful day, whether you celebrate Easter or not. We have gorgeous weather here and while my niece was here, we were able to watch two families outside flying kites! It brought back a lot of nice memories for my niece of days when my sister would take her to the beach to fly kites. I was very glad for that.

@Courtlynn Yes, I was on Bubblews. My late husband was also there. And I had this same name. I'd made the decision to keep the name so someone would recognize me. Can't remember what picture I had, though. I think it was a picture of my cat.

I am glad that your niece came over and spent time with you. I will continue to pray for your kitty and hope you know more when the vet calls tomorrow. I spend a lot of today thinking about past Eastern and all the wonderful memories I have. Have a nice evening.

Thanks to my niece, it was a much better Easter than I'd expected. My cat has been sleeping since my niece left. She still won't eat or drink but she seems to be sleeping peacefully.

She had hidden away and I took her out at one point to snuggle and talk with her. I brought her to her water bowl where she drank a little bit. And then a little bit more. And a little bit more. But she still didn't want to eat. So I'm all wrung out but I'm grateful that we have each other because she trust me completely and my love for her goes very deep. I've been cancelling appts left and right to stay home with her. It's just the mammogram that got in the way this week. So I'm hoping we'll be okay by then.

No. She's usually okay on her own. My real fear is that she would pass away without me here. But I can't control everything.

I'm so sorry to hear about your cat. I hope the vet will be able to help her. It was good of your niece to come by and you could enjoy a nice Easter together. The mass sounded lovely. It must have been beautiful to watch and listen to.

I am so glad that we have Catholic TV here. It has been my saving grace since I lost Britt, and now that I've been agonizing over my cat, being able to pray along with someone on TV has helped me enormously. They make me feel a lot less alone. The Mass was incredible. I'd also watched the one on Good Friday. And having my niece here yesterday was a huge blessing and a wonderful surprise.
