Day 220 Proverbs 20:28 Proverbs 20:28 Mercy and truth preserve the king: and his throne is upheld by mercy. What keeps you steady? What gives you the reason to keep going day after day? What is your reason for living? Solomon said it was mercy and truth that preserved him and held up his throne. It was mercy and truth that governed his life and his kingdom. Mercy and truth are two of the foundation stones necessary in the life of every Christian. There are many more, but these two help shape the foundation of your life, give it strength and character, give you something to build on. 1 Corinthians 3:10 According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise master builder, I have laid the foundation, and another builds thereon. But let every man take heed how he builds thereupon. 11 For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ. 12 Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble; 13 Every man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man’s work of what sort it is. 14 If any man’s work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. 15 If any man’s work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire. Build your lives on the foundation of God’s Word. Add the stones of mercy and truth. To those stones add love, joy, peace, patience, goodness, kindness, gentleness, meekness, faithfulness, and self-control. The stone of mercy is forgiveness. When you love one another, you will forgive them. The stone of truth guides your life. All those stones are gifts from the Holy Spirit who guides your life in all truth. Let’s pray: Father, let your foundation stones of mercy and truth guide my life as your Holy Spirit helps me lay my foundation on you and your Word. Help me display the gifts of the Holy Spirit in my life so people will see my foundation is firmly built on you. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen. It isn't easy to forgive some things - but if Jesus can do it - then we can.
