Favorite 70's Rock Songs #9 - "Golden Country"

Awhile back, @TRBRocks420 did a countdown of his favorite 70's rock songs. Duly inspired, I've stolen, err, borrowed his idea with my Favorite 70's Rock Songs series. We are at #9: "Golden Country" by R.E.O. Speedwagon. Named after a flatbed truck designed by Ransom E. Olds (the REO Speed Wagon,) R.E.O. Speedwagon formed in Champaign, Illinois, in 1967, and, despite the 2015 death of guitarist Gary Richrath, are still going strong. Over the years, the band has sold more than 40 million albums and placed 13 singles into the Top 40 of the Billboard Hot 100. Those only familiar with the smash hit ballad "Keep on Loving You" might be surprised to learn that there was a time when R.E.O. Speedwagon rocked the hell out. "Golden Country" is proof. From their 2nd album, 1972's R.E.O./T.W.O., "Golden Country" is a politically-charged tune about social injustice and greed. Written by Richrath, the lyrics remain relevant 45 years later. Check out this live version, which absolutely smokes: (Info verified by Wikipedia)
Gary Ritchrath, one of the best Rock guitarist you'll find. Lucky I got to see him, hope you enjoy when R E O Spedwagon was ROCKERS! Gary always seemed to be...

Just for future reference for all people who respectfully want to listen to other peoples music to learn of new music. Play the song as you read the post. Works beautifully. You get to see how the song matches the post in most ways. Sometimes can see it is just what the song made someone feel. Mr. Freak does a great job giving us the history. Many others on Mylot do also.

@teamfreak16 Indeed, the cost of not hearing something you will like to something you may not like is not even a comparison. 10 songs I may hate, but only need 1 that gives me a perspective that could change the whole way I look at the world. I guess that might freak some people out also, but once you learn most of society is a lie, it does not matter at that point. You been there done that so to speak.

Thanks! I agree. Listening to the song costs nothing. You can always exit out if you don't like it. Personally, I want to hear it in case I might like it.

@crossbones27 - I think a lot of people just really don't want to step outside their comfort zone. Which is too bad, because there's a lot of really good stuff out there if you're willing to do so.

@teamfreak16 -- I really don't mind Hi Infidelity (gotta love "Tough Guys"). It's everything that came after it ("Hey, let's make Hi Infidelity Part 61!") that bugged me.
