Eat one meal a day and live longer..

. My husband and I used to have what we call a "three course meal" a day. We have our entree (breakfast) , main meal (lunch) and dessert (dinner).. But as we got older, we feel that our bodies no longer need the three course meal a day, so went down to two meals a day.. And we felt better.. For the past 4 weeks now after coming back from our overseas trip where we broke our healthy eating habit, we both put on weight. So we decided on having only one meal a day or just eat whenever we feel like our body needs it..We have cut down on sweets too..I stopped buying ice cream and making cakes.. But we still have our super juice whenever we feel like it.. Yesterday, I came across a few vids on youtube talking about eating one meal a day and how effective it is in losing weight and the extra body fat. I realised that we are actually doing the right thing..According to the video I watched, it could actually add more years to your life.. I lost a kilo and an inch off my waistline.. Greg still has his snacks, but I only eat a piece of fruit just to comfort the tummy.. On the photo is our typical meal for the day.. It's very filling.. We eat more fish and other seafoods than we eat meat .. We eat more sweet potatoes than we eat rice or pasta and noodles.. but we always have salads or veggies.. Do you follow the tradition of eating three times a day?.. Or would you cut down to eating only one meal a day for the sake of longevity?.. Bess..
Why has Nutrition been so complicated? This video tells the story about why 3 meals a day is unnecessary and how eating ONE meal a day can make being healthy...

@JustBhem When you get to my age, you will find that you need to eat less .. and eating rice with every meal is very uncomfortable ..

Good for you! I rarely eat breakfast, have a light lunch, and a dinner similar to yours. Don't forget to exercise, too!

I only have lunch as main meal on weekdays. Breakfast will just be coffee and bread so I eat an early lunch at 10:00 , during our snack time. Mid-afternoon snack , I eat also. But at night it's only an apple. Though, when my HS batchmates and I have a practice, I cannot help eating well, after our more than 2 hours practice, because the foods prepared by the maid of our president are so delicious and some would also bring other foods. he he he

@epiffanie I agree. Some old folks eat bits of food in one day. I had seen it with my 98 granny.

We've gone mostly Vegan since last June and both my husband and I have lost weight. I am a sugar addict so about the time he decided to start losing weight, I had decided enough!! on white sugar ingestion. I've lost about 40 pounds. Need to do a little more but am healthier. Yes we eat three meals a day and once in a while a snack between. I need protein and if that means I eat a spoonful of home made peanut butter, then I do.

No problem for me having one healthy meal a day. Presently , breakfast is my main meal and when I have lunch- it is very light and dinner - even lighter. Most times I skip dinner. Less is best.

It's good to hear that one meal a day is helping you lose weight. I was told by a dietician to eat small meals 5 or 6 times a day rather than have 3 full meals. I have a filling breakfast and carry a fruit , yogurt and a chapati or sandwich for lunch and have salad for dinner and I have been maintaining my weight .

Wow, I definitely cannot survive on just one meal a day. The only thing I can do is to cut down on carbohydrate. Without carbohydrate, I can take in more nutrients without taking in more calories that will be converted to fat.

@epiffanie I think you can just take a multivitamin pill if you worry that you lack certain nutrients.

Since I've cut out breakfast I've lost 12 kgs but that is over a long period of time. We stopped eating cakes and biscuits a long time ago because of Vince's Type 2 diabetes and went to low fat/low sugar most things. Lunch is very light but our main meal is in the evening.

Three meals, but the most important is lunch. I prefer fish, fruits veggies, and chicken but rarely meat. I feel so healthy, I don't any problem in this sense. Anyway, I want to increase weight, it is important for me.

I basically eat two meals a day since I would consider my breakfast to just be a light snack. I should probably eat more since I've been trying to gain weight for the past few years but haven't been able to.
