On the Road North

United States
April 18, 2017 8:31pm CST
I took a little detour as always going North by going East to South and then North Carolina. I know this sounds a little confusing! I met up with my daughter and her husband to do a little camping at Lake Marion and then on to their home in North Carolina. It's my last night here and finally had time to hook up my laptop, although they setting up a board game! Anyway I'm off tomorrow to the third leg of the trip and will get to Dayton tomorrow night. Amid a forcasted storm I believe. I like making the trip in 2 stops even though it's out of my way. I've never been one to want to make "good time" on a trip! Now I'll be heading North West. I'll be on the road in the morning and have anticipated a nice drive. It's a long one though, nine hours of driving plus stops. I'm gearing up!

Nine hours of driving is a looong way. I'd be getting very sleepy by the end of it.

It took me 11.5 hours on this last leg. Then I spent time with my sons until midnight before heading over to my best friends home to stay the night. They were up and ready for a gab fest! I lasted one more hour....

We travel very much in the same style but never drive for 9 hours. I enjoy stops especially when I can visit family and friends.

I will probably cut down on the marathon driving. It's getting to be a bit much.

I do not like very long road trips, I always prefer to take a break for a night. Have a safe trip.

I don't mind them, but what I do mind is not feeling free to stop and see things more often. Usually when I travel, people are waiting for me to arrive. I must try and remember to allow extra time for even more stops than I take. I don't mind staying over at a hotel on my own.

Are you going to do this third leg on your own? It's a heck of a lot of driving, especially if you've no-one to talk to.

@Jeanniemaries I've lived in this house over 10 years and yesterday was the second time my basement was leaking water in from the down pours we had. It was a mess but noting damaged.
