Perfect Timing

Getting my walk in has been a challenge this week. Wednesday I finally managed to squeak in a 3 K walk immediately after supper. Yesterday I managed 6.5 K early in the morning (I was home again by 8 AM). It was a good thing I went early. Later in the day we had one downpour after another. More than 5 cm (2 inches) of rain fell. To get my walking schedule sorted out for the coming week I needed to get a good hike in again today. I set off along the Welland Canal Trail and timed it perfectly. I watched a ship approach and when I turned around at my halfway point, I followed the Ship until it entered the lock. No waiting for the bridge, Just enjoy the view. Sunday we'll aim to get an early morning walk in.

The sky looked menacing in your photos, we have beautiful sunny days, but a bit too cold. The best time to walk is after 10 AM when the temperature goes up a little.

We have had a lot of rain since Wednesday morning. Today, Saturday is supposed to show a. Is of sun and cloud. I think most of us would like to see at least a little sunshine. I'm hoping to hang my laundry outside to dry today.

Today I'm just going to walk to the next road and back. That will take me about 3 kilometres....just the right distance for my between days.

How awesome to see such things on your walk. It's Saturday afternoon here, the sun is shining and I may head off to walk beside the river.

@Morleyhunt and I didn't make it to the river, but managed a short walk close to home.

It starts out sunny this morning (Saturday) but now has clouded over again. It's also a bit on the chilly side, but I have most of my laundry hanging on the clothesline.

That's a lot of walking. I wouldn't last that long. I'll be happy to do a half-mile to a mile when I can.

I'm plugging away. I'm hoping to get in a 10 kilometre hike in about two weeks. I'm working my way up to the 13 kilometres I'll be hiking across the Confederation Bridge.

Love the photo. I walk first thing every morning, rain or shine. If I'm lucky, I go again later in the day, too.

The downpours we have had this week were enough to keep the bravest and most hardy souls off the trails. One nearby town received over three inches of rain in a couple of hours. The flooding was incredible.

I've managed to dodge the showers a couple of times this week. I've also gotten soaked, through and through just dashing in and out of the grocery store.

You got lucky getting 2 walks in this week, its been so wet. It must be a nice site to be able to watch the ship as you head to your turn-around spot. Right now the sun is shining, and it is not raining, but in a little while it could-what a wet week!

I always consider it a bonus when I get so watch the ships as I walk. My Monday walk I saw some deer grazing in a farmers field....I routinely get to see squirrels, chipmunks and a wide variety of birds......both large and small. Then there are the few people I encounter along the trails.

It's a good thing I have two months to work up to the time and distance. My knees were complaining today....I think it's the damp.

I miss those days walking my dogs in the former Canal Zone town called La Boca and seeing the ships coming in and out of the Pacific side of the canal.

My dog is too old to accompany me on my walks. She is exhausted by the time I'm at the end of the driveway.

I'm nit fond of walking along the side of the road (we live on a main road) but the back roads and the recreational rrails provide some lovely places to walk.

You enjoyed the scene. I have never seen any ships (seen only in TV's ) yet as I don't live in coastal area.

I don't live anywhere near the ocean. I'm close to a lake and to the Welland Ship Canal which brings ocean liners and lakers through into the Great Lakes.

I've noticed some improvement when I step on the bathroom scale as well.
