Today I went out for some work. There I met my classmate but I couldn't recognize who he is as I haven't seen him from past 20 years. But he recognized me . This was pretty embarrassing but even after telling his name I couldn't recognize him . But I have to handle the situation by saying ... Oh ya I do remember ... When I actually don't.. and the most embarrassing was next , when he said -ok if you remember then tell me in which class we studied in same section... Omg ... HOW DO I KNOW. Have ever you gone through this kind of embarrassing situation. What should I say to my friend now..

That was kind of rude of him to say that. He obviously sensed that you didn't remember him.

@Shwetasingh yes that would be the easiest thing to do. I am sure he will understand and rather you tell the truth.

No I have never had that happen. I am good at remembering people's faces even if I don't remember their name.

That's great. My memory is very weak when it comes to recognize those people who are worthless according to me. I think he must be one of them.

This has never happened to me but it can be a very embarassing situation. You should have told your friend the truth. If you see someone after ages this can happen.at times

Simply say you don't remember. I don't remember half the classes I had with my classmates anymore. I graduated 45 years ago.

@Shwetasingh You said it's been 20 years. It's not surprising you don't remember him or the classes you had together.

@just4him ya that's true but because of courtesy I said so. I still regret for that

I know that's the best option . But it sounds very rude to say that. So I preferd to say yes. But from the next time surely I will say the truth.

I know I should but now nothing can happen. Actually it always happen with me . Being the bright student all the batchmats remember me but I rarly notice anybody as I am having my own virtual world. So generally people come and ask such questions but never cross checked me.

You should tell him the truth... As for me, I usually say that I remember him'/her but I can't recall the name... But this friend of yours was not nice. I am sure he knew you will not remember who he was yet he still pushed you into providing him more information about him... But how did it go in the end? Did you exchange email addresses/phone numbers?

No I haven't exchanged phone number. I did what you are thinking I mean I apologized for not remembering the class detail as its long back story.

@Shwetasingh That was a right choice. Why do we have to pretend to remember something when we really can't...

I have forgotten a person's name and after we got done talking I finally remembered it. I could not address her by name.

yeah, more often. however, sometimes it goes too much embarrassing till you have to accept the challenge.
