Day 225 Proverbs 21:5 Proverbs 21:5 The thoughts of the diligent tend only to plenteousness; but of every one that is hasty only to want. 6 The getting of treasures by a lying tongue is a vanity tossed to and fro of them that seek death. 7 The robbery of the wicked shall destroy them; because they refuse to do judgment. 8 The way of man is froward and strange: but as for the pure, his work is right. Nothing is ever gained by dishonesty and deceit. There are many who try that route to riches and glory, but they will never succeed in the end. A saying I don’t hear it as much today as I did when I was young is ‘An honest day’s work for an honest day’s pay.’ Solomon showed that diligence and integrity gained you what was needed in life and more abundantly. Those who sought the fast route to riches found destruction in their path. God does not reward evil, but brings judgment against all those who practice it. Paul made it clear who Christians were and were not to associate with. 1 Corinthians 5:11 But now I have written unto you not to keep company, if any man that is called a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolater, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such an one no not to eat. 12 For what have I to do to judge them also that are without? Do not ye judge them that are within? 13 But them that are without God judges. Therefore put away from among yourselves that wicked person. As Christians, you are an example to the world, to those who do not profess Jesus as Savior and Lord. If you act like the world, you have damaged your witness, and the saints have the right to judge you accordingly. However, only God will judge those who have not accepted Jesus as Savior and Lord. Your job is to witness to the world. Let the world know there is a difference between you and them, and that following Jesus will gain them so much more than they ever expected. So much more that they will want to leave their destructive ways and live a prosperous life in Jesus Christ. Jesus told everyone what his mission on earth was – life, not death. John 10:10 The thief comes not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. Do you want the abundant life Jesus promised, or do you want to live your life trying to get ahead any way you can, even though it might not be honest? Let’s pray: Father, help me live my life with integrity, knowing that I have not damaged my witness for you, but will help lead people to you through my example. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen. Honesty is the best policy - and also pleasing to God.
