Size does matter and 9 inches is huge!

Listening to all the reports from the rain yesterday it seems my neck of the woods is the winner of the 'huge' award. My husband may have forgoten to count a half inch or so, but according to his records we wound up with just about 9 inches....9 inches of water that could have been a disaster if we lived in a flood prone area or next to a river or creek. Schools are closed in our county and the two counties on either side of use. Since the Tennessee River isn't far from us I assume roads along it's banks are underwater. The pond over-flowed but as soon as the rain stopped we could see the level start to go down. 9 inches of water is a lot and while other parts of East Tennessee got an inch or two, we definitely are no longer in a drought situation in my back yard LOL! The weather report is maybe a passing shower today, but right now I see a little blue sky! Photo from Pixabay

I agree p inches of water is a lot of rain. We expect severe weather from tomorrow with torrential rain. We are safe here, but the garden will look like a pool.

@AbbyGreenhill I wanted to clean the pond, because I like clean water and I like to put a fountain in the center to move the water, but with heavy rain forecast I wait.

@LadyDuck Someone just sent me a link to a solar fountain for the pond. I am thinking about getting one. OUr pond is 'natural' so we can't clean it!

The front stalled out over top of us! I don't think we will be fishing for a long time....way too muddy back there and the water is too. The fish won't be able to see the worm!

Sky is mostly blue but I don't think we will get out of the 60's today - high 80s after that.

You always have the most interesting titles. Glad you are no longer in a drought situation, glad you now see blue skies. I don't want you to wash away in a flood. Send some of it down here, we can use it.

Holy cow! We got maybe a tenth of an inch over the weekend. If we get more than an inch or so at a time our driveway washes away. Oh the joys of red clay and sand.

We are red clay but we have a cement driveway - wouldn't live w/o one in TN.

that is quite deep i hope the rain stops already... rain is good of course, but too much of anything is just not good i did enjoy the flood in our backyard before, when the water was still cleaner, there were tadpoles and fishes(there was a fish pond near us which overflowed ) - the tadpoles were so cute
