Boring Breakfast

I'm staying in a hotel near work for a couple of nights. Two of my team members are over on a visit and I need to take them for dinner and to various places during the evening so it makes no sense to do all that and then drive an hour back to my flat afterwards. It's a Holiday Inn - but honestly you'd think it was a Holiday Inn Express. Pretty location, rooms recently upgraded so they don't look quite so Holiday Inn as normal, but the breakfast is truly terrible. I'm quite embarrassed how awful the food was. Scrambled egg was clearly of the 'one lump or two' variety and the bread was straight out of the plastic bag and 'toast your own'. No fruit salad, cereals in little cardboard boxes. Clearly a 'could do better' situation. I really do prefer being at home and making my own.

im surprised your holiday inn has a terrible breakfast bar. the few that ive stayed at had cereal boxs, sliced fruit and whole apples and oranges. 3 kinds of juice. fresh milk, coffee, pancakes, scrambled/boiled eggs. bacon, sausage- all sorts of goodyness. i always seem to get a cinnamon bun, coffee, and either tea or coffee.

Some breakfasts can be very ordinary indeed can't they?

I already hate having eggs and now the food choices for breakfast seems so limited too. I think you must definitely make a complaint so that they can improve their service

I may be suitably scathing on TripAdvisor.

Have you complained to the management?

It's not really complain about-able. I just wasn't impressed.

I've never stayed at a Holiday Inn but I thought they had a good reputation. Marriott do the best breakfast!

This is a rather modest HI - in a bit of a rough area.

That is not good. I would put a review somewhere. I mean apart from here.

I'm a tripadvisor reviewer. They'll be getting feedback.

I suggest to send an email to the Holiday Inn headquarters, at worst they do not reply.
