Do you read comments when you read posts?

I have a dentist appointment in 1/2 hour. A couple of fillings, so I'll be numb for much of the late morning. That gave me just enough time to "troll" around MyLot and visit some posts, as well as comments on my own posts. It occurred to me as I was nosing about that I enjoy responding to comments on others posts almost as much as the post itself. I'm probably a bit prejudiced toward the comments of people I know. When you read others' posts, do you read and respond the comments as well? Now that I think about it, it's an "efficient" way to interact, since you don't have to do a bunch of clicks to find something interesting to respond to.

I often read the comments, specially when the post is good.

Yes, I usually scroll down to read the comments and sometimes I comment under a comment. It's another form of interaction, but very interesting.

I think our conversation about St. Francis was on someone else's post. That may be what inspired this post (discussion).

@TheHorse Yes, our conversation about St. Francis was on someone else's post. It happens many times that I discuss with users on other users posts.

When I read an interesting post I make my comment and then go and read what others have posted. Many times I make a comment on a comment and enjoy a conversation that way

That's what I try to do as well. I should do another experiment where I post nothing but JUST get involved in conversations on others' posts.

Sometimes I get lost in threads when people are just bantering. But if they're having a good time, it's OK with me!

Yes, usually, I'll read others responses to a post, and sometimes respond to those. Not always, of course. I mean, when the other responses are something like, "sorry for your loss" or "I know what you mean" what's to add?

I tend to read comments but not if it's something I've already decided on and my remarks won't change regardless of OPC (other people's comments). If it's a topic that I'm not flexible on I just say what I think I should say and then move on. Hey! If it's not up for debate with me, then I'm not going to debate it. Sometimes I just don't read the comments because I don't have the time.

I try to comment on as many comments (on my own posts) as I can. It can get a conversation going, and it's also a way of saying thanks for visiting. Bit I don't do that on others' posts.

@TheHorse I always comment on every response on my post but with a second or third comment it depends on what's said. But lately if my post has 20 responses the same person puts their own short comment on all 20. Is this trolling? I've just been ignoring it.

@Gillygirl This is what is happening at the moment. They are commenting on every comment in a post. I'm ignoring it for the moment. I guess I could block them but I'm reluctant to do that.
