Crazy Diet. I think my friend is losing it.

I don't know what got into her recently but she has been so obsessed about losing weight. My friend is neither slim nor is she fat. I think average will be the right word to describe her. Yesterday she told us that she found a three day diet plan and it involves eating less food and drinking cups of coffee.  Coffee acts as an appetite suppressant which will help her to lose weight quickly. We have been trying our best to convince her not to follow this diet as we do not want to watch her starving herself and also having so many cups of coffee may have negative effects on her health. Wonder if she will heed us and accept herself as she is. Image from 123.rf

She already is perfect and one great looking lady. She just needs to eat healthy. No need to starve herself

That's too bad. I think she should be fine with what she is. Even my sister is average weighing girl and she too talks of getting slim but thank god that she has not tried anything so silly till now.

It sounds crazy to me to drink more coffee to lose weight. She could better take fruits and raw vegetables to satiate her hunger, if she doesn't want to take normal food.

That is exactly what we told her. To eat more healthily. But she keeps on insisting about the coffee as it is supposed to suppress her appetite and thus reduce her caloric intake

@Nawsheen I think she is not listening to your sane advice and she might cause more harm than good to her health. May God give her sanity.

@Nawsheen If, as you say she's neither slim nor overweight, why is she experimenting with her health? It's simply crazy. She's harming herself.

Has she ever been heavy? This sounds like something I would have tried a couple years ago after my father passed away and my weight went up. I tried several weight loss programs and thankfully I listened to my friends and lost weight in a safer way.

@Nawsheen How about seeing a doctor to have the person discuss ways she could safely lose weight, if the doctor recommends it for any reason. Could she be experiencing back pain and not telling anyone?

Ask her to check out Atkin Diet. It is basically a diet that allows her to eat everything, except carbohydrates.

I did a search on the Atkin Diet. Quite easy to follow. I came across another diet while searching and it is the SCD diet but this one is super restrictive. I will try to convince her to the Atkin Diet. Thank you

@Nawsheen Atkin Diet is easy to follow, because there is no restriction on what you can eat, except to cut down on carbohydrate. She can get her nutrition from all the food she likes to eat.

No she is not bulimic. Just can't understand where she got those ideas from. There are so many articles available on the internet and people confessing that they have followed ''xyz'' diet and they have lost weight. But how credible are those news.

Measuring her carbohydrates intake will be a good idea. We have convinced her to eat healthy foods and zero calorie foods. Taking too much Coffee a day is definitely bad and will mess up hwr system. Hope that she listens to us

Too much caffeine will definately harm her in some way or the other. Healthy eating and excercise will only give her what she wants and not a 3 or 4 day diet. You and your friends should keep on telling her the same.

Her self-esteem and self-confidence are way too low that she has to do something in order for her to achieve a nice look. when she doesn't look so bad herself.

This diet is very bad, caffeine without food can cause serious problems, anyway a three day diet is never good. What you lose in three days you gain back soon.
