Crazy Diet. I think my friend is losing it.

I don't know what got into her recently but she has been so obsessed about losing weight. My friend is neither slim nor is she fat. I think average will be the right word to describe her. Yesterday she told us that she found a three day diet plan and it involves eating less food and drinking cups of coffee. Coffee acts as an appetite suppressant which will help her to lose weight quickly. We have been trying our best to convince her not to follow this diet as we do not want to watch her starving herself and also having so many cups of coffee may have negative effects on her health. Wonder if she will heed us and accept herself as she is.

That's too bad. I think she should be fine with what she is. Even my sister is average weighing girl and she too talks of getting slim but thank god that she has not tried anything so silly till now.

It sounds crazy to me to drink more coffee to lose weight. She could better take fruits and raw vegetables to satiate her hunger, if she doesn't want to take normal food.

@Nawsheen I think she is not listening to your sane advice and she might cause more harm than good to her health. May God give her sanity.

@HAPPSINGH if you can make your mindset, believe in it and work super hard then you can make it friend.

Has she ever been heavy? This sounds like something I would have tried a couple years ago after my father passed away and my weight went up. I tried several weight loss programs and thankfully I listened to my friends and lost weight in a safer way.

@Nawsheen How about seeing a doctor to have the person discuss ways she could safely lose weight, if the doctor recommends it for any reason. Could she be experiencing back pain and not telling anyone?

@Fishmomma we have been trying our best to reason with and even to go meet a nutritionist but she is not agreeing to it. She is so stubborn

No she is not bulimic. Just can't understand where she got those ideas from. There are so many articles available on the internet and people confessing that they have followed ''xyz'' diet and they have lost weight. But how credible are those news.

coffee is a depressant in terms of getting sleep. why don't she measure or limit her carbohydrates intake?

@Nawsheen i hope she listens to your health advice, because it will be she who will benefit anyway, not other people like you.

Too much caffeine will definately harm her in some way or the other. Healthy eating and excercise will only give her what she wants and not a 3 or 4 day diet.
You and your friends should keep on telling her the same.

Her self-esteem and self-confidence are way too low that she has to do something in order for her to achieve a nice look. when she doesn't look so bad herself.

@homebasedbobbie I don't know if she got rejected by someone. We wanted to know if she has some problems but when we asked she said everything was okay. Well we will never know if she is hiding something

@Nawsheen or maybe rejections caused her that.

That sounds like a very unhealthy diet. Even if she loses weight, it will be temporarily.

@MsBooklover yes. Maybe she will learn a lesson and never does something detrimental to her health

Losing weight naturally would be best. I don't know about starving and drinking coffee would be good?

She sounds determined and yes a coffee diet might be okay for one day but 3 is long.
I wish her luck though and health.

There are many following plans that are not in their best interest. We can't always get people to listen to reasoning @Nawsheen

That's an odd diet, indeed. Well, hopefully she just tries it the three days - I hope she doesn't take it too far. She is lucky to have friends looking out for her.
