What really represents video games: Stories influence us more than we think

In a study of people's experiences with video games, those really passionate have explained that they do not appreciate video games just as a way of distracting from everyday reality, but they also find profound meanings in many of them. This perception should be encouraging for developers who want to invest in games that tackle themes above the banal ones. "Video games are often stereotyped as just fun, but they are not appreciated for their meanings," said Mary Beth Oliver, Media Studies and Coding Director at the Media Effects Research Laboratory. "Video games are not on par with books, plays or even music."
