A day to take myself away

I've always loved Sundays. They were always so different from every other day. Growing up, Sunday was a day for God, first, and then family. Mom, Dad and I would go to church in the morning. After Mass, we would have coffee with other members of the congregation and spend time checking in with one another.
Then Mom would go to the florist to get some flowers for our dinner table. And then we'd go to the bakery to get pastry for dessert. And then we'd head home so Mom could make Sunday dinner for us and my sister and her family.
My sister had 4 children. The 6 of them could join us for dinner and the table was always so lively and fun. The food was exceptional! Soup first. Salad. Pasta with meatballs and/or sausage. Coffee, tea, milk. Mom and my sister would wash dishes. My father and brother in law would check the TV for baseball or football. I would take my niece and nephews out for a long walk.
Later, we'd all go back into the dining room for pastry and more laughs. Those are the days I remember so well and miss. I think of them all and smile. I bring them with me into my Sunday today to let them know I still keep them all close to my heart.
My Sunday is always God first. Watch the Mass on TV. Make my simple dinner and remember those days. And in my memories, I make this family day again. They aren't gone. They will never be really gone.

Sunday is always my fav day.
I don't have to do a thing if I don't want to.
And yes, the spiritual aspect is also present.

I feel the same way. My Sundays are very quiet now but when Sunday rolls around I think of all the big family gatherings of the best. We would have a big Sunday dinner and there would be 15-20 of us. There would be lots of good food, many conversations and lots of laughs. I miss those days.
