Too much english?

A thing which is common nowadays is people being judged by the way they speak,write and use english in their personal and professional lives.We as indians have always believed that people around the world like the germans,spaniards,french,chinese etc have always preferred to use their mother tongue more often,be it on international stages of politics or business ,as a symbol of pride and heritage.But in indian subcontinent we are consistently under scrutiny by the way we use english.Is it a fair parameter?whats your take.
