US issues travel alert for Europe

Personally I think it's an overkill to issue a travel alert that covers the whole of Europe. The previous travel alert ended in February, and now they issue another travel alert. This travel alert basically means that insurers can get out of paying out travel insurance claim for those who go to Europe.
The U.S. State Department issued a travel alert for Europe on Monday, saying U.S. citizens should be aware of a continued threat of terrorist attacks throughout the continent.

Europe is still safer than America, its just not called terrorism when its done by white people here in this country.

Even when terrorism acts take place in one country, it is an overkill to issue a travel alert for all the countries in Europe.

It seems a lot more dangerous for Europeans to travel to the United States, not for the terrorist attacks, but for the nuts who go around killing people in public places there.

Nuts killing people in public places is not considered a terrorism act in US, but it will be considered a terrorism act in Europe! So ironical

@scheng1 I agree, because finally the result is the same and who said that the nut who killed people in a public place was not a terrorist? May be it was but this is kept quiet by the authorities.

What a bad news! In fact today it is hard to find a place that is completely peaceful.

US is just being ridiculous. There are so many countries in Europe. There is no need to issue travel alert to the whole of Europe, not as if terrorists are able to attack all countries, and all cities and airports in those countries.

@scheng1 yes that's true. Nothing can match what happened on 9/11.

Trump apparently forgets about 9/11. All the terrorism acts in Europe do not add up to the destruction of 9/11.

They are covering their backs I think. We are going to Europe in about three weeks.

Just hope that Australia does not stupidly issue a travel alert. It will affect claims on travel insurance, because the insurer will say that you are not supposed to be there.

@scheng1 That's possible but we'll hope for the best. Maybe we'd better read the small print on our travel insurance documents.

Never knew that! Another excuse not to pay after getting the customers' money?

Travel insurers in US will say that the US residents are not supposed to be there, since US has already issued a travel alert for Europe. So if you have a flight delay or anything, they can avoid paying by saying that you should heed the travel alert and not travel there in the first place.

That seems a bit extreme to order a travel alert for all of Europe.

Yes, that's my thought. If terrorist attacks happen in Russia, and you are caught in a flight delay in Germany, the insurance company can reject your travel insurance claim. They will use the travel alert as an excuse for not paying.

No matter who we are or where we travel, there is always a chance that something bad will happen. Guess we can't stop living because of something that may or may not happen @scheng1

This travel alert will only benefit the insurance companies. If someone from US travels to any part of Europe, and become a victim of violence, the travel insurance can reject the claim for medical expenses. The reason is that US has issued a travel alert, and that tourist should not even go there in the first place.
