You ever find people adding you on social media and wonder why it is they are adding you? I have had this moment a lot. My dad's side of the family often adds me and it's usually a cousin or someone I literally haven't seen in years. I don't go out of my way to add anyone. That being said my dad's ex-wife added me recently. This may not sound too unusual if I had some sort of relationship with her or they were married in my lifetime, but here's the thing, both of my parents have been married 3 times and they were each other's last marriage. I have had no stepmothers or fathers. Neither of my parents has been remarried in my lifetime. My dad had a girlfriend for awhile but he never remarried. This was the woman my dad was married to before my mother. I really don't know her. I do know that she's still close to my dad's family and my aunt that died was living with her up until she was put in a home. I remember she was at all of the family reunions but I never really talked to her. She never remarried after my dad and still has my dad's/my last name. I just found it odd that she added me. She's commented on and liked some of my posts but really I don't know her. I just know of her and have met her in passing. I always just thought it was odd that I would know my dad's ex when he never had any children with her or anything. I mean she has always just kind of been in the family despite being divorced from my dad. My aunts actually talk to her more than they do my dad. My dad doesn't have a lot to do with is family anymore but his ex is still somehow a part of it. I always thought when you got a divorce that you usually left that family behind, clearly, that isn't the case for my dad's family. Odd as it might be I guess that's life. I don't hate her, the truth is I don't even know her and found it a bit odd. I don't know why she would want to add her ex-husband's daughter that she never really knew but to each their own I guess. If she's looking for things to talk about she's not going to get anything from me. If she's just curious about his life now she really won't know much about that either. She is mostly just going to find pictures and posts about my kid.

I've had a few of those too, but mostly I get random family members that I don't even talk to. Some people have odd reasons for adding people. "I've never talked to them but I'm related, I'll add them." Personally, if I don't know them even if I'm related to them I won't add them. It's not everyone that can say their dad's ex wife is friends with them on FB, I last saw her at a family reunion. I mean it's just weird lol.

@Courtlynn Yeah, most of the ones I get are from my dad's side. I have never been very close to his side, I have an aunt or two that I will talk to from his side but I don't talk to any of my uncles and I don't talk to the majority of my cousins.

She might just want to be a friend with you.

I really don't think so. I've never said more than a hi to her. I think it was more out of curiosity than anything.

that's weird. A few days ago I had a request from someone who plays an online game I used to play. But I never had strange family members request me.

Yeah, I mostly get strange relatives that add me. My dad's ex isn't even a family member, nor has she ever been my family member.
