I was working the other day in the dressing room and a guy who was wearing womans clothing wanted to try on clothes in the womens clothing room. I was not sure of the policy and before I could say anything he had already walked back there. I just let him I don't have a problem with this because that is who they are I don't judge. But I definetly don't want to get in trouble with my work over it though. What do you guys think? Should they be able to use the bathroom of the opposite sex?

You'd have to check your own company policy on that. If they are transgender that means they have moved from one gender to another. If they are transvestite that is another thing altogether.

Personally I am not sure what to think. I would hate to have them be walked in on by a child that is for sure. But how do you explain to a young child why they see a woman or man dressed up as one coming out of the mens bathroom. Personally, I think what would be Best if there is this issue, is to have a restroom that either can use at all times to help avoid any confusion like this.

It is becoming an issue in my country. They were having debatable concern if to have another bathroom for them.

Dressing room- its a an individual room for privacy. Restroom- no matter how your dressed, if you have a hose, use the mens. If you dont, use the ladies. But the transgender needs to realize that theres no real bias when a male looking female walks into a ladies restroom, unless a child is ther. But a man dressed in womens clothing going into a mens restroom, he beter be ready to just leave and not demand fair treatment. There is more bias with men. But as always, when kids are in the restrooms, its a whole different situation.

Yes, transgender people should be allowed to use the bathroom that matches their gender. There is no reason why it should matter to anyone else. The bathroom is a place for urination and defecation. it's a different situation with transgender women, because women use their bathroom as a gendered safe space. This girl, also needs access to that safe space. (She would be equally at risk as any other girl in the boy's bathroom, if not more so, because of the high rate of violence against trans women.) She is not violating the other girl's safe space. A lot of women fear that transgender women will use the bathroom to harass girls. There has literally never been a verified and documented case where a trans woman has harassed another woman in a bathroom. Some people are like, "The boys could claim to be girls, and go in, and look at the girls!" Okay, first of all, anyone who thinks this has never interacted with a boy and knows how terrified they are of being seen as feminine. This has never been a problem anywhere. Secondly, we don't organize the bathrooms by who likes who, we organize them by gender. If we did, we'd have to quiz all the kids on their sexuality, and then we'd have a lesbian bathroom and a gay bathroom and a bisexual girl bathroom and bisexual boy bathroom and a straight girl bathroom and a straight boy bathroom and then gender neutral bathrooms for the genderqueer kids, and divide those by sexuality too. This is impractical.

Yeah that's quite okay But I see them more as men so I think they should use a gents bathroom. ..

I suspect that if she heard you refer to her as 'a guy who was wearing womans clothing' she might not agree that you don't judge.

I owned a bridal shop. There were cross dressers who came in to purchase dresses. One man in particular made an appointment and ordered a dress for a specific event. We made the appointment when we were fairly certain there would be no other customers in the store. Our policy was....there had to be at least two staff present when we this occurred. He was fine with it...it worked for us. Was I comfortable? No. But in this day and age..... If you look appropriate for the bathroom you are using....who would know?
