Do you like to lie down after eating your meal?

I admire my father for having a flat tummy. After eating, he loves to lie down. He refrains from doing anything but just love to sleep after eating. I also have a classmate who don't have extra fats at all. No stubborn bellies and her shape is really perfect. She told me, she loves standing just after she eat a meal. Do you think that those activities are the real factors to remove stubborn extra fats?

My gastrointerologist told me not to because I have reflux, and lying down shortly after eating can cause problems.

Sorry to hear that. What problems it will cause if we lie down after eating?

@annierose -- reflux, which is burning in the chest and throat and an "aftertaste" (I'm trying to put it politely).

Maybe it's true that it helps to have a flat belly. I eat a lot that's why my belly is protruding. I try to diet now

My classmate eats more than I but she can still manage to have a good body. So jealous now.

@averygirl72 I agree. I have known someone who can eat more than one plate of rice but is still thin.

No, I don't think lying down or standing have anything to do with having a flat stomach. Some people are built to have bellies. I was a kid in kindergarten and had a big tummy that laid across my legs when I sat down.

I feel upset whenever I see my big belly. I did exercise but the problem is I cannot do it everyday.

Surely not, my husband never lies down after eating and he has a flat tummy even now that he is 71. I also have a flat tummy, I do not like down and I do not stand, I wash my dishes and then I work at my computer. It's what you eat that makes the difference.

I don't lie in bed after every meal for digestion purposes.

I wasn't aware of digestion purposes until I started this thread.

I think both of them do not over-eat. If I eat until I am full, I cannot lie down flat. I will feel the food coming up through the throat, and my tummy becomes bloated. I will go for a walk, or do something.

I enjoy my siesta every day and so does Preiti our pet. I cannot say I have a flat tummy which has a lot do with other factors - posture, food the works.

I heard we should not lie down after meals. I sit or stand after eating. That helps in digestion of food.

I have read that sitting for a long time can make us fat. I am just not sure how true is it.

I think it can gain weight easily if a person sleeps after eating a meal. It is a good thing if the metabolism is still active.

I understood that it was bad to lie down after eating to keep active is better. But now with this new revelation I may just do the same.

It would be nice if it were that easy but I'm a bit sceptical.

I have my doubts, but it would be nice if taking a nap after meals kept the fat at bay.

Yes, I like it too. But some says that it is not advisable to sleep when full.

I don't think if standing or lieing down after a meal has anything to do with removal of stubborn extra fats.I think working out, drinking lots of water and eating healthy does...with this knowledge,am yet to achieve flat abs

I stay away from junk foods and soft drinks since I learned those can cause bloating.

I was not suppose to do it but sometimes I am. I have heard of it, that if you want to have a flat tummy, do not sit (just stand for a few minutes) after eating your meal. Its hard to do.
