Is there any smell that reminds you of your childhood?

I don't know if you have any smell that has that power over you, but to me, the smell of freshly baked cake makes me very homesick (mainly because I remember many moments with my grandmother). Do you identify yourself with any special smell?

Yes real home made tomato sauce for spaghetti. My Father made it when we were small and now I do. Also the smell of some perfumes remind me of my Mother.

Certain perfumes remind me of my mother and grandmother. Diesel reminds me of my dad when I was little. He'd come home from sea and pick me up for a cuddle still wearing the overalls from working on the boat. The smell of certain foods takes me back to my mum and grandmothers cooking. For some reason the smell of new shoes reminds me of starting primary school.

The most familiar scent to remember is the baby powder. If I smell this, I can remember my mom always used this for my back.

Marcel Proust's has written on this topic in "Remembrance of Things Past". If you're interested, you can find more about this here:

My grand moms kitchen smells of freshly baked homemade bread. A Sunday dinner of roast and her fixings. I miss those times and them dearly.
