I think that is very important, though I also think there are many things that define beauty, it can be shown in various forms :)

Beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder, so goes the saying. Therefore, anything which is beautiful for me, may not be beautiful for you.
One's personality and attitude towards others define beauty.
Outer beauty will fade one day with the passage of time but the inner beauty will stay. Those who are beautiful from inside command more respect from others.

It depends on the object is. One can aesthetically appreciate the beauty of an art work, nature and person.
