ORDINARY PEOPLE.

When we take a good look at all the trouble and strife in the world today, it is obvious that all this mayhem is caused by just a few. The majority of people would rather live peacefully - and simply get on with their lives. In the midst of another crisis three years ago I thought of writing this poem titled "Ordinary People" These are ordinary people, not seeking extraordinary lives; Husbands in a hurry to get home to their wives. A mother in her kitchen packing groceries away; Soon it will be time to leave for a meeting of the PTA. The neighbor's dog is once again barking up a storm; Every time he sees the postman, he raises an alarm. An argument next door - you can hear every word that is said; Hard to believe that couple are newly wed. Miss Simms is in her garden , again wearing the shortest shorts; She pretends to be picking at weeds, but her aim is to jolt a few hearts. In the park across town, joggers call it quits for the day; To a brightly lit church hall, midweek worshipers make their way. Ordinary people, living ordinary lives; No thought in their heads of contributing to world strife. These are ordinary people content with ordinary lives. Poem published in Bubblews 2014. .

You are correct that the majority of us want to live in peace and harmony.

Indeed, most people do. Even though we are fully aware that nothing can be perfect.

That was pretty darn awesome @Kandae11 ! Like looking out at a scene in every day suburbia. It's true, so many of us just want to live our lives in peace.

@Kandae11 we also have bars on our Windows and security gates in front of our doors. I wonder if there are still places where there is no need for security.

That would be my dream - living in a nice neighborhood in a house without bars and grills. Thank you.

Nice poem Kandase. It is true what you say, it is the few that cause the great damage. Most are not about that. Love the photo you picked.

Thanks. Even in countries where there is a high crime rate, you would find that it is a small percentage of the population causing the damage.

There's more ordinary people than "news makers." Unfortunately the media makes it seem like its the other way around.

You are right. What most of the people like is a good, and peaceful life and not more than that.
