A Winters Day

This is a poem I wrote about my youngest grandson when he was about five or six years old. He was a cute little fellow always looking for something to show grandmother.
James was playing outside on a winters day
I was in the kitchen baking a birthday cake
When I looked out the window and to my delight
He was staring straight up with a look of surprise
Then his voice rang out clear as a bell
Hurry Grandmother please come out here
There's something strange that you have to see
So I grabbed my coat as I went out the door
As curious as a body ever was before
And he pointed to the roof with a look of awe
Look grandmother, the roof is making fog

@FayeHazel Time really does fly. Seems like mine should still be babies.

@RubyHawk No, - no kids for me. Though I think stuff like this - if I had a kid at a young age, and that kid had a kid at a young age - I could be a grandma by now. Wow. Time flies.

That's a nice poem. Children are so real in their thoughts.

Cute poem and memory. I almost asked about that fog he saw and then remembered it was a winter day, so it was the result of your heat running I'm guessing? I imagine you also need to run a bit of the furnace during the winter months, or is it fairly warm there like in FLorida?

maybe the fog he saw was the smoke coming out from your chimney?
