A Winters Day

This is a poem I wrote about my youngest grandson when he was about five or six years old. He was a cute little fellow always looking for something to show grandmother. James was playing outside on a winters day I was in the kitchen baking a birthday cake When I looked out the window and to my delight He was staring straight up with a look of surprise Then his voice rang out clear as a bell Hurry Grandmother please come out here There's something strange that you have to see So I grabbed my coat as I went out the door As curious as a body ever was before And he pointed to the roof with a look of awe Look grandmother, the roof is making fog

@RubyHawk I think he is still young. He might think it over as he grows up.

I'm sorry to say he has no interest in poetry. He would think that sissy.

Yes, he had seen fog but didn't understand it was steam rising from the roof. He was always an inquisitive little boy.

@RubyHawk No, - no kids for me. Though I think stuff like this - if I had a kid at a young age, and that kid had a kid at a young age - I could be a grandma by now. Wow. Time flies.

Cute poem and memory. I almost asked about that fog he saw and then remembered it was a winter day, so it was the result of your heat running I'm guessing? I imagine you also need to run a bit of the furnace during the winter months, or is it fairly warm there like in FLorida?

Yes, it was the heat. We live in Georgia and we do use a lot of heat in winter and air conditioning in summer.

maybe the fog he saw was the smoke coming out from your chimney?
