Many years ago there used to be an actress called Hilda Baker. She used to mix her words up which was quite hilarious and quite a talent. One such saying was her calling someone something horrible and would call them "a knock kneed knackered old nosebag"!

Most of these words you speak of are started by people creating them and then the words become popular @youless the word "brunch" has been used here in the USA for many decades.
