I missed the stagecoach!

Fiddlesticks! I missed the stagecouch, not once but twice! In my defense, I didn't even know I was needing to catch it... Do you remember when I was talking about those historical signs? Or rambling about them, at any rate... Well I finally looked at, and remembered (somewhat) the two signs. I remembered one word from one of the signs, and have deduced that it must have something to do with a "Hattie Butner" who was the wife of a man whose father founded the Village not far from where I live. In any case, the sign may or may not have something to do with a stagecouch her husband developed and named after her. The stagecoach in question has been restored (several years back) and now sits in the Village Hall there. I might have to make an attempt to visit said hall, and if I do, I will certainly take a picture, permitting. There was a public viewing for it not too long ago though, and I missed it. Not just once, but twice! Here's info on it : (For those curious... A google search of "fiddlesticks" states that the term was used in reference to the literal "bows" or "sticks" that were used to play the violin or fiddle... Why it became a term to express displeasure? I couldn't say.)

The stagecoach reminds me of the Georgette Heart stories I love...Lots of action centred around them. The sticks in the fiddle became fiddlesticks when the musician couldn't play properly...I guess,. "A bad workman blames his tools.,"

Stagecoach stories? Of highway robbers? What were they called when they robbed stagecoaches? Highway men?

Maybe lots of people didn't enjoy the 'music' created by the fiddlesticks!

While I don't mind the sound of the violin, I am partial to the piano myself...

That sounds like something to put on your "to do ' list to visit. I am not sure why "fiddlesticks" became a negative term, but that is like people making up any other euphemism.

I also wouldn't mind visiting the train museum again.. it's been atleast a decade and a half since I last visited it, but it was amusing all the same.

If I ever do go see it up close, I'll take pictures of it... I wouldn't mind a ride in the refurbished beast.
