What is the most inappropriate thing you have ever seen a teacher do?

I have been sitting here for sometime thinking about stuff to write as discussion. So many things are flying through my head......... But I am typing something else entirely. Getting back to topic: The most inappropriate thing I witnessed was a female teacher flirting with male students in our batch........completely ignoring the girls present. I am not sure she even realized that there were girls present in the room because she would give lectures and her attention would be on boys. If any of the students asked questions or doubts, who will get answered? Yep only boys! And she would make handful of guys stay back when the class was over to sort out their 'problem' while girls were ushered out as soon as the time was up. Girls never got their doubts cleared. Good thing though that she was only with us for a month! Another good thing was that "most" of the students were eighteen. What about you? Do you have any inappropriate teachers like that? Well, our new president married his French high school teacher that he met when he was 14. At 17 he asked her to divorce. He speaks a very good French, so maybe this relationship helped him to be elected. I think I already spoke to you of an English teacher who was thinking that he was spied. At the beginning of the school day, he was asking the pupils to look for microphones in the classroom. We never found one, and he ended in a mental asylum, but maybe it was a plot against him? Then I cannot tell if it was inappropriate. I have had a Spanish teacher who was telling us that he was not liking his job of teaching Spanish to stupid pupils. His dream job would have been to teach history of art in a college, and he was spending half of his time to show us slideshows of architectures and paintings. I do not know if it was inappropriate as he was commenting in Spanish, and I learned a lot with him.

@Daljinder No, the legal age is 18. I cannot tell if he was raped by his teacher.

@topffer I remember. I also remember DE's So the FRench President was allowed to marry at 14? Is it legal there? And funny you mention marriage, I was just thinking that over here a marriage is the 'solution' for inappropriateness in some places and situations. Even rapes!

When I was in high school, I had a teacher who spoke to us in very rude ways. He would make fun of our names, and one day he called on me, but he called me by some rude name and I would not answer him. So he decided to get my attention by hurling a piece of chalk at me! It hit the back of the chair in front of me (empty chair, thank goodness) and flew in all directions as it fell apart. I told him he could have put my eye out with that and eventually he apologized and never did it again. But I was very hurt and angry with his actions.

I'd think he'd be fired. Have you seen the Mr. Garvey Key and Peele sketch? It's pretty funny.

@Daljinder I hope he never did anything like that to another student. Those people should not be teachers.

@CRK109 You are right. He could have hurt your eyes with that. I disliked the teachers that used humiliation and taunting as punishment. That sort of punishment hurts more

Why are female teachers doing all the naughty stuff these days? Have male teachers been beaten into caution? I've never seen a teacher do anything really inappropriate--at least not that I can think of off the top of my head.

@Daljinder Yeah, that's my thought too. That fella who took his female high school student up to Oregon or Washington or something did get some media coverage.

@TheHorse Male teachers do too but I guess that is old / stale news so female teachers get more attention when they get caught.

@responsiveme The male teachers we have had were very good. Never drunk and always stern yet respectable. One of them would not even touch a girl even by accident.

Well, I guess teachers are human too. They do have their failings. But they should know better because students still look up to teachers for appropriate and correct behaviour.

@sjvg1976 I don't think its that uncommon. The general consensus that we have that teacher never do anything wrong and are sort of "God-like", it gets either ignored or brushed off coz "obviously" teacher can;t do "wrong". While I was teaching, one of my female students has a male teacher who will say and do inappropriate things to girls often. These girls weren't little. They were in Grade 9.

LOL. Most of my teachers were nuns. The ones who were not nuns were married. Never saw any flirting going on. Never really saw them do anything that was "questionable". Now ask me if I've ever seen a priest do something inappropriate. Never mind. Don't ask me.

"Do you have any inappropriate teachers like that?" You've used the Present tense here. I finished school in 1964.

@Daljinder wow. How.....creepy and....pathetic. That would annoy me so much witnessing that. I can't recall anything messed up right now about school. OH no wait what am I talking about!!? I already told you but that sports teacher who was apparently sleeping with students. That turned out to be true. So there was that but I can't recall actually witnessing anything else.

I also experienced that kind of thing. A teacher and a student relationship. At first, I thought, there is no way for a student to behave like that. But when the rumor spreading like a thunder bolt. The teacher and that student were dating. The teacher was expelled, I don't know about the student.

This is so shameless that a teacher behaving in such a way with her students. I had a sanskrit teacher who used to behave in appropriate with the girls and insult boys in front of the girls. Still he taught us very well, except that all the other teachers I ever had were very good and we share a very good teacher-student relationship even today.

We had a few who seemed to enjoy putting people down constantly in front of an entire class! We had one guy who was really sleazy and would make comments like" oh I wish I was 20 years younger" if a girl was wearing a short skirt etc. He was one of those guys who tried to act like he was the same age as us and our friend rather than a teacher. I knew some teachers who that tactic worked for but in his case it came across as creepy!

@Essjayd OH dude! I had one of those too. Actually more than one of those who liked "humiliation" as punishment. She even had taunting 'nicknames' for a couple of boys who were shy.
