Some Filipinos don't know North and South Korea

Philippines

This was hard to believe when this Korean made a survey months ago about Filipinos basic knowledge about the South and the North. I find it depressing though that these students with access to the internet, had no idea about the interviewer being on the South. I don't know what they are teaching in history class, but I felt so embarrassed on how they answered it. Most people here are already Korean Pop and Drama fans, How could this happen?
We asked people around Metro Manila and Laguna, "Do you know the differences between North and South Korea". Interested in the video? Subscribe for more! Loo...

Oh that's sad. Here in India although we don't have much koreans still we know about North and South Korea and I think students too may be knowing this.

Hello @sjvg1976 I don't know why because most of them are Kpop fans now. At least now they know.

Were you really embarassed? I think you can't or shouldn't expect everyone to know everything. Also you mentioned history class. Having North & South in Korea would, as you believe, be a basic knowledge but do you remember everything you learned in your history class? Hmm. Is this usually discussed in history subject or some other subject? I am Filipino and I believe that this is my temper talking.

That's really frustrating! I don't know about many young Filipinos who are hooked on Koreanovelas but they do not read about Korea's history and culture?

Our educational system is partly to blame but people especially children are not that interested in history or international politics.
