There were, unfortunately, lots of candidates, but only 10 made the cut. We are at #3 in my Music Vehicular Deaths series: Marc Bolan. Leader of glam rock legends T. Rex (originally Tyrannosaurus Rex,) Marc Bolan's career lasted until 1977, when, two weeks before his 30th birthday, a car in which he was a passenger, crashed in London. Bolan and his girlfriend, Gloria Jones, were headed home from Morton's, a drinking club and restaurant, when Jones lost control of the Mini she was driving. The car hit a reinforced chain link fence before crashing into a tree. Bolan was killed instantly (neither was wearing a seatbelt,) while Jones suffered a broken arm and jaw. In the hospital, Jones did not learn of Bolan's death until the day of his funeral. Oddly, Marc Bolan never learned to drive because he feared a premature death. He did, however, own multiple vehicles. Although Tyrannosaurus Rex started out as a psychedelic acoustic folk act, Bolan is credited as a major pioneer in the glam rock resurgence of the 1970's, often thought of as the man that invented the look and genre. Fans have turned the crash site into a shrine, regularly leaving tributes beside the tree. As for the video, I urge you to watch it, for it is glam rock at it's finest. (Info verified by Wikipedia)

Awesome song, shame when people die so young when they have so much potential.
