She had always thought that she was in a perfect marriage, in a healthy relationship with her spouse.Hers has been a happy marriage and so what more wish she have wished to have.As her friend, I could say most of us looked unto them as role models of marriages today. Just a few weeks, husband was admitted to the hospital and so the drama started here.So her husband needed some documents that were in his posssssion to be taken to his boss at work. Her husband gave her the keys to the lock and on retrieving the documents, she noticed an inner safe that was opened maybe her husband just forgot to close it. But out of curiosity, she decided to peruse through only to be met with a will and his mother was the main beneficiary. Her three children were also named as beneficiaries. She just left everything as it was but though shocked, she did not mention anything to her husband. More was still to come, her husband asked her to go to his medical cover insurer and try and follow-up so that the funds could be released. But she was denied access to those documents because she was not named as the one to represent the applicant in case of an emergency. His mother was the sole named person for such an undertaking. They demanded a written letter from the applicant so that they can give her a go ahead. She is now in a dilemma as to having put so much trust to her husband and been in the marriage for many years thus invested so much emotionally yet it seemed like she was in a world of her own.

I agree with @sreekala, he would have written the will before marriage, but I feel no need to worry about this, she is his mother only , not any outsider.

Yes, she is her mother only and not on any other ladies name. But it still hurts as she trusted him all these days. She has to broadminded enough to accept his decision. I don't understand why 'men' do this way?

Sorry, I failed to point it out that the children were also named as the beneficiaries. It was inclusive of the children so he possibly drafted it after marriage.

@waflay so there would be some problem between them, any husband will keep his wife name first in his property, atleast after so many years of marriage they have that trust.

I can understand her disappointment. But if he wrote that will before his marriage then his mother is the only person in this world holding the rights of his property. It is better if she talks to her hubby openly rather than taking blind steps. He can tell why he did this.

I forgot to say that the children were also included in the will so only leaving her the odd one out.

@waflay Oh ok but in any case 'wife' may be the first person having the rights of his properties. But this applicable only if there is no 'will' written. Here I can't understand the possible reason for his acts. In my opinion, she must talk to him and help him to recover from his problems so that he will definitely understand her value in his life. I agree it needs lot of patience.

@waflay got children? Oho then there may be some problem, why will he leave his wife like that, she should be the first person who has right on all his property.

Fortunately there is no other woman in the picture. I think her husband has forgotten about the will, else the husband will not ask her to check with the insurer. Perhaps when her husband has recovered, she can ask him to include her in the will, and assign her as the trustee of the children's money.

@waflay Anyway we do not know the whole story. Perhaps the wife has not proven herself in managing money. If she has fallen to scam before, or she is too gullible and believe in every con man, then it makes sense that the husband wants to protect the family from her foolishness.

It is hard to tell the reality why he chose to leave her aside and include everyone else in his will. Or maybe, the will was incomplete by the time the wife saw it...

Wow that is pretty nasty. I wonder why he did not mention his own wife? This is very serious.

We can only guess why he left her from his will. Let's assume that it was just a piece that he discarded long time ago and a perfect one is safely hidden somewhere else.
