Day 254 Proverbs 23:12 Proverbs 23:12 Apply thine heart unto instruction, and thine ears to the words of knowledge. Life is all about learning. From the moment you’re born, to the day of your death, you are learning. It might not seem like it, but you do. Sometimes what you learn is obvious, and other times it just slips in quietly and you don’t realize you’ve learned anything new until you’ve been asked about it and you realize you know the answer. Solomon knew the heart of instruction was found in the Law of Moses. He saw it in his father’s life, and was admonished to spend time in the law daily, gaining knowledge of what God intended for his people. He found when he applied his heart to God’s Word, it became imbedded in his heart and his ears were attentive to what God said and did. Many people see the Bible as a history book and has no foundation in their lives because it’s about another people, another time, another place. They do not see the relevancy of God’s Word when applied to their daily lives. As Christians, you see the relevancy. You see and hear God’s heart for his people. You see how applying your heart to the wisdom of God brings salvation to your soul. You see how memorizing God’s Word so it sinks deep into your soul, keeps you out of Satan’s clutches so you do not sin against God. Psalm 119:11 Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee. (KJV) Psalm 119:105 NUN. Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path. (KJV) Satan would have you believe the Bible isn’t relevant today. He doesn’t want you to see the heart of God for his people and how much he loves you. Satan would keep you bound in chains, closing your ears to the message of hope and life found in God’s Word. Jesus said you would know the truth and the truth would set you free. John 8:32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. (KJV) Jesus also said he was the only way to the Father. John 14:6 Jesus said unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man comes unto the Father, but by me. Jesus also said Satan came to kill, steal, and destroy. When you listen to Satan and believe the theories he spouts about how this world was formed, and deny the power of God in his creation, or see the promises God gave for a Savior, you will never see the truth of God in the beauty of his creation or the love of God in sending his Son, to be your Savior and bring salvation to your life. John 10:10 The thief comes not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. (KJV) Are you going to believe Satan’s lies, or are you going to let the Word of God sink into your soul and instruct you in what God intends for your life? Let’s pray: Father, help me see the destructive force of Satan in the lies he tells about your Word. Let me see the relevancy of your Word as I study it daily and receive your instructions for my life. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen.
