I retired in 2006. I finally threw out all my diaries. Had them since I was in my mid twenties. Forty some years. That's a lot of paper. Congratulations on stopping smoking and sticking with it. for so long. I wish my daughter could do it.

@GreatMartin The fact that you love every day of your life means you are really "Living" while some are experiencing an 'Imitation of Life' it would seem.

@PatZAnthony And this is just an example of why I love my life!! I spent the afternoon down at The Point--some people were swimming in the pool--others were out on boats or on paddleboards BUT a bunch of WW2 vets and a few of us from Korea plus 2 from Vietnam sat around and told the kids (grandchildren of residents) all the BS war stories we could come up with! And there was a BBQ going on in the community room--a warm, sunny, friendly day and showing respect not only to those gone but a couple of Gold Star Mothers (now in their 90s) who were the heroines of today!

Wow, you have weighed 300lb in the past? Congrats on slimming down. Quitting smoking is the best kind of quitter, lol. Sounds like your nom de plume accurately describes your life at this moment! I haven't seen you on here in a long time. Good to know you're doing so well.

I love that you still send handwritten letters and cards. I haven't done that in dogs ages and I really ought to.

@GreatMartin I once wrote a thank you note to a workmate who had invited me to lunch. I was big on writing letters then - it was before PCs were really that common, and I still did everything longhand. Anyway, I thought she'd gone out of her way with the lunch, so I wrote a note and mailed it. She was flabbergasted when she got it! I can understand why you've kept writing and sending letters. They must provoke an even bigger response now
