The Greatest Show On Earth

In New York last night The Ringling's Brothers Circus had their final show. That's it. That must have been tough for so many of the performers. Hope they can find something else to do. They said that the animals are going to shelters and homes so they will have a good life. I used to love to go to the circus but over the years I have thought better of it. I don't like hearing how many of the animals are treated. I have seen documentaries and stories on the news of the cruelty and I can't even go to the zoos much anymore although I know they are usually animals that have had injuries and can't live in the wild any longer. Here is a video from You Tube of the circus's last night:

I haven't been able to ever since I started on Care2 and began to understand the treatment of animals by some.

In a way it is sad, but on the other hand yes, the way the animals are treated is not right. Went to a circus do not know which one it was when I was a a child. It would not interest me now however.

I went too and loved it. Seeing the cats and the elephants. It was enthralling. Until I started on Care2 and read some of the stories.

The end of an era......I don't think ever went to the circus. What do former circus people do for a living now?

There are still some performances of the tight rope and such. And maybe in Europe there are such performances.Carnivals still have some shows in some areas.

It's sad to think an era is over.

I heard Ringling's was shutting down. They have been in business for a long time.

I'm glad the circus is over too @celticeagle because of the animal cruelty.

Despite the animal situation, it is sad to see an institution come to a close.
