22 people dead... Mostly teenagers ... attending a concert, but as they were leaving... and chatting excitedly about how good the concert was... a suicide bomber made his way to the entrance of the arena... the same entrance that they were all leaving through, and blew himself up... killing 22 and injuring 109... A great tragedy ... and our hearts go out to all the family and friends of those who lost people and of those injured... but ... The local community responded by helping each other... by coming together... people who were passing by... stopped to help... they didnt run away... people who were driving, stopped their cars and offered shelter to the young people running out of the arena,   and in some instances,  driving the injured people to the hospital... Many off duty policeman, fireman and hospital workers went into work.. without being asked .. people who lived nearby opened  their homes up to the  mainly young people from the arena... so they could wait in a safe area  until their parents came and got them... local taxi's took some of the kids home... free of charge...  that's what the people of manchester did in responce to this attack ... There could be sssooo many titles for this post... and I wanted to find the best one and it is because I want lots of people to read it... but not for penny's...  but because I want you to know, how the people of manchester responded to the terror attack on their families ... And to make known their compasion and humanity and to say ... it's at times like this... I'm proud to be British ....

It's during the saddest moments that you can see the value of people. I am so sorry for what happened.

I heard about that, how hotels and homes were opening up to people who were "stuck" in town because the subway was shut down. What I found so sad was the thought that went through my mind: if that had happened in the U.S. the scam artists would have been there before the police.

mmmm I'm sorry to disagree with you.. @FourWalls but... I think situations like this bring out the good and the bad in people.. all the world over... and I'm sure that there would be a similar good response to this situation in the usa ... a desire to help people....

@sueznewz2 -- most people are good, but it's historical: there were scam artists in New York after 9/11, and the scammers beat the Salvation Army and other relief organizations to New Orleans in the wake of Hurricane Katrina.

I have been seeing it on the news, so scary and last night they said there are still people missing. Children and adults. I hope they find them. It was such a evil event, very scary world we live in..

I was so devastated as were so many at this loss and having them be young children too was even worse. I have heard so much how wonderful Manchester responded and I thank you for the added information. I am praying for the victims and their families. This kind of thing needs to stopped somehow by any means- they need to act more decisively when they suspect anything.

yes I agree @MarymargII more often than not ... the people are already known to the police... but the police haven't got the manpower to keep an eye on them ....

I'm sure there will be a great many stories of kind deeds. Just like after the 9/11 incident, people come out to help when the chips are down.
