Do you buy organic foods?

I hadn't been until now, as I need to start eating healthier, as I think that eating better would help me physically, and mentally. Since I live alone, I only have to buy for myself, so I don't have to buy all that much, just enough for me. I am glad that I don't have to buy much either, as organic foods are expensive, and I will only buy those things that I know I will eat. I had a good lunch eating organic foods, and I was pleasantly surprised that that they tasted as good as they do. I had never had tofu or vegan cheese before, so I decided to have some for lunch, and they taste so yummy. Organic foods aren't for everyone, as they are an acquired taste, and I am glad that I can eat them with no problem. I bought vegan cheese, vegan mayonnaise, turkey made out of tofu, and tofu desserts. I know they sound bad, but believe me when I say, they are actually deliecious, and I will be buying them again.

I used to buy more organic than we do now. With no transportation it is difficult to get to to the fruit stands and then haul home the heavy watermelons and such. I just brought this up with my daughter too. We live about five or six blocks away from a fruit stand and we'll see about getting there. Every little bit helps. Let us know if you like these new items.

@thislittlepennyearns .....That's a shame. I have not found a product with coconut in it that I like. I want the nutrient but when I gag when drinking it it is rather hard to drink it.

What I had for lunch, was two sandwiches of tofurky, which is vegan turkey. It was actually very delicious, and I was pleasantly surprised.. I am drinking coconut water too, and it is very good. I want to be more healthier, so that is why I am trying to go organic.

We used some vegitables as organic. Without any pesticides it cultivate naturally. Price is high according to the natural one and scarcity make it very popular.

Yes, organic is very expensive, and I can only buy so much of it at one time, but then with just me eating it, I don't need to buy all that much anyway. I am surprised that the food tastes as good as it does, as it tastes bettter than I thought it would.

I am not vegetarian, I eat healthy, but I do not buy organic foods that most of the time of "organic" have only the name.

I am finding that organic for me works better, becasue I don't want to put the chemicals into my body anymore, and we know that chemicals are harmful. I just starting eating organic, and i know in time that I will be better off for having done so. I am hoping to lose weight as well. I am not tellint others what to do, as they can eat with they want, but for me, I choose not to eat anything that will be harmful to me.

@LadyDuck Yea, here, they use a lot of chemicals, so that is why I am now going to buy organic as much as I can. It is a shame though, that some have to resort to using chemicals, as it just isn't necessary. Although, I thuink that farmers are becomimg more aware of the health risks, and going all organic.

@rosekiss We have more strict laws in Europe for what concerns chemicals and pesticides, our fruits and vegetables are surely more safe than what you have in the United States. I buy locally, from a farm and I feel safe, because I see where they grow their veggies and fruits and I know that they do not use chemicals. In Summer I am lucky enough to grow most of what we consume in our garden.

It is much more healthy, and we all need to be more healthy anyway. It is more expensive, but then it depends on where you buy them.

I buy organic produce and sometimes organic chicken, beef, etc. I don't buy the fake cheese, mayo, etc. because that stuff is just loaded with chemicals. I use the real stuff but I just don't have it very often.

I had bought veggie cheese today, and it is very tasty and I am pleasantly surprised, as it tastes very good and delicious. I can really get into the tofu, more than I thought I would.

@rosekiss That is good that you are enjoying them. I definitely go for the organic vegetables and fruits as I want to avoid the chemicals. I try to buy organic meats when I can afford it. But I just don't go for the food "substitutes". I'd rather not eat the real thing or only have it in very limited amounts because you are just inviting a whole new set of problems by eating the substitutes which are filled with chemicals. I buy whole ingredients and as few "processed" things as possible.

@NJChicaa I am beginning to realize that processed foods are not good for anyone. The things they put in them is enough to make a person want to protest. I try to buy frozen vegetables as I like stir fry, and actually, they are very tasty and good for me too. I wasn't sure about tofu, as I never ate it when we lived in Hawaii, but I thought I would give it a try, and I must say, that it is better tastng than I thought it would be. For some though, it more than likely would be an acquired taste.

I try to when I have the money to but I am in college and literally have no money at all the majority of the time. Plus my parents don't eat the majority of the things I want to buy and eat so it makes eating healthy hard when I have to cook for 4. One doesn't like anything spicy and only likes a few veggies. My dad doesn't eat any veggies other than beans, corn, and potatoes. My boyfriend eats a lot more than they do but doesn't want to explore other types of foods outside of basic chicken and beef. My fruit is always bought organic though since that is something all of us can agree on that we all like.

Eating organic is the way to go though. I haven't been eating like I should, so when I saw a friend on mine on youtube have videos on healthy eating, and what can happen if one dioesn't. It really got me to thinking that I need to start eating better than I do.I am hoping that i lose weight as I need to do that too.

@CaseyRoss9966 I can imagine, that the food at school, isn't fit for anyone to eat. I can understand though, that when you live with others, you have to eat what they do pretty much.Since I live alone, I am only responsible for me so I don't have to worry about having to figure out what to buy. I have just started buying organic, and it is more expensive, but it is worth the price as far as my health is concerned.

@rosekiss I would love to but until I have a steady income and live on my own and don't have to worry about what everyone else eats and doesn't like it is hard. It is a lot easier, quicker, and more convenient to grab what is cheap and/or premade. When I am in college in my dorm and it is just myself when I go to the store I buy organic but I mostly eat at the school's cafe since it is already paid for and the food they serve us is terrible.

I know organic food sounds better. But usually I don't really care about it so much when I buy the food. As long as they are fresh and it will be good enough for me.

I went shopping at Walmart today, and ought some more organic foods, and some not.I bought a lot of frozen fruits to use in smoothies, and aslo to make my own ice cream, as what you buy at the store isn't good for us at all. Making my own, I can eat as much as I want and not have to worry about how it was processed.

It can be expensive, that is for sure. I just buy for myself, so I don't have to buy to much at one time. It is knowing how much to buy.

I am on a dairy free diet. So, I eat non-dairy products. However, I do not like the vegan cheese. I guess it's an acquired taste. I eat veggie burgers and I eat field roast products. They are so delicious. They make burgers, sausage and cheese. I have never had the cheese before though.
