Using tactical lights for self defense

I heard that tactical lights (you know that small intensely bright flashlights) can be used as a means of protection. Any idea how?

I have a small tactical flashlight with a strike bezel that could be used as a weapon and an upgraded to LED maglite that is good for bashing intruder's heads as a last resort, both have very high lumens that could make you temporarily blind

@Mamerto32 oh I see, are you a prepper like me? I have many edc versions that I rotate including my gear, my house is also prepared for bagging in instead of bugging out.

Can you not point it to the eyes of the would be agressor to makes that person stunned or blind?

It might be more or less to get peoples attention to where you at and who is around. so if some one is trying to attack you and you turn it on it gets peoples attention and scares the person off.
