I got conflicting answers on this one. I tried searching in google and I found out that not all writers use an Author's Platform. Stephen King and JK Rowling are good examples. But in this day and age there are publishers who require you to market your own story. An author's Platform will be a necessity in this case What do you think guys :)

I think I would rather go through a publisher.

And I think I will. Even if your story got rejected, at least they will give you feed backs. And you don't have to worry about cover designs and stuffs.

@Mamerto32 if I can give you any advice it's to decide what path you want to follow with your writing. Not everyone is cut out to be Stephen King and not everyone can work a news story properly. Write a few pieces and let someone you trust evaluate your skills and see where your strengths lie. Then you can decide which avenue is the best to pursue.

@artner Thanks. Honestly as a man with a day job it is impossible for me to construct a platform. Writing a story is time consuming enough, and coming up with a web design will surely ruin my social life.

I agree, the internet didn't exist until recently and people were writing stories back then
