Day 261 Proverbs 24:13 Proverbs 24:13 My son, eat thou honey, because it is good; and the honeycomb, which is sweet to thy taste: 14 So shall the knowledge of wisdom be unto thy soul: when thou hast found it, then there shall be a reward, and thy expectation shall not be cut off. Honey has many health benefits. It helps to prevent cancer and heart disease. Helps to reduce ulcers and gastrointestinal disorders. Is anti-bacterial and anti-fungal. It increases athletic performance. It reduces cough and throat irritation. It helps regulate blood sugar. It heals wounds and burns. Is a probiotic. It improves the skin. It’s good for the eyes, helps with weight loss and goes down into the deeper tissues. It is full of antioxidants and flavonoids. (http://www.care2.com/greenliving/10-health-benefits-of-honey.html) Solomon compared honey to wisdom, as honey goes deep into the deeper tissues, so too wisdom goes deep into the soul. When used, wisdom will affect every area of your life. When God asked Solomon what he could give him, Solomon asked for wisdom to rule God’s people, and God gave it to him. He was the wisest man who ever lived. In James, we are told to ask for wisdom. James 1:5 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that gives to all men liberally, and upbraids not; and it shall be given him. Solomon had a lot to say about wisdom. Proverbs 2:1 My son, if thou wilt receive my words, and hide my commandments with thee; 2 So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, and apply thine heart to understanding; 3 Yea, if thou cry after knowledge, and lift up thy voice for understanding; 4 If thou seek her as silver, and search for her as for hid treasures; 5 Then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God. 6 For the LORD gives wisdom: out of his mouth comes knowledge and understanding. 7 He lays up sound wisdom for the righteous: he is a buckler to them that walk uprightly. We are to search out wisdom for one purpose: to understand the fear of the LORD and find the knowledge of God. God will give it. We only need to ask, and once we have it, it will sink down into our soul affecting everything we do. Let’s pray: Father, give me your wisdom so I can know your heart and give you reverence and praise for all you are and the knowledge you impart to me. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen. People rarely think to ask God for wisdom, it can have a bigger impact on our lives than the paltry things we usually ask for. Thank you for sharing with us.

I was totally blessed this morning with my prayer time, in which I'm also reading the book Battle Plan for Prayer and the verses for today's study - it was all on wisdom and how important it is to ask for wisdom when we pray and not just the usual gimme list. That book has really opened up and expanded my prayer life so much, I fully recommend it. I'm reading it through for the second time.

Yes we should ask God for his knowledge and wisdom to guide us in every situation.

A lot of people fail to ask the Lord for wisdom. They ask for a lot of things and for issue to be in their favor. I needed to read this today.
