Leticia accepted: I will have my dog.

For some time, ever since the oncologist declared that I was in full remission from my cancer, I have been wanting to have a dog. But Leticia told me that if I bought a dog, she´d leave as the dog would destroy "her" garden. But after the robbery, Leticia said that I must have a dog. And I have been looking for German Shepherds. I won´t buy one until after the holidays in July. The pup should get acquainted with her human mother and I will have to get acquainted with her. I say her, because I want a she-pup. They bark strongly, enough to make people ran away (even if they won´t bite). And they are so beautiful! My very own Misty, now in the paradise of specially good dogs, was a German Shepherd. Are you a dog person? What breed do you prefer?

German Shepherd from the North of Spain black and fiery red gold colour
This is the kind I prefer although he is a boy. His sister was not in the right condition otherwise I would have bought her too. Hope you find one like Lola.

@lovinangelsinstead21 I will start looking for a dog after my vacations. I agree with you that young puppies are the best.

@marguicha From experience its always better to get the puppy from three months old as their loyalty will be only for you and no one else. This one here has only one master he looks to first and then the rest after. His bark is really loud. Name is Sultan.

It's good that you finally decided to get one, good luck on your choice. We have 4 dogs that are mixed breed, we let them loose at night inside our perimeter, 3 outside the yard and one inside the house.

I don´t like dogs inside the house. But the climate where I live is good enough so that they can be outside.

@marguicha You are going to get a dog and force it to live outside? That is terrible.

@NJChicaa Misty lived all her life outside. She hated to be indoors. We have a very mild climate so it is not terrible at all.

I love dogs! We always had German Shepherds in our family when I was growing up. Now we have a Standard Schnauzer! He's actually very like a German Shepherd in his mannerisms he is loyal, protective and must be with you all the time. He barks the house down if anyone comes near! German Shepherds were a lot easier to train though! Schnauzers are stubborn! He looks at you as if to say I know what you want me to do but I'll do it when I feel like it

I LOVE German Shepherds.. but as of yet I Have not had the pleasure to own one. my father used to breed some and they had a time when they had 6 of them (adult) at once. I loved visiting. they are so beautiful. A German shepherd is a great choice for companionship and protection.

That is awesome, one step closer. I would probably recommend a female German Shepard like you are going for. Males are a bit more stubborn from my experience and a bit more aggressive, unless you get them neutered. Our male was not neutered and he was a bit scary when he got around people he did not like and other animals were a no no period. Kai, the one we currently have is really gentle and she does not even play bite. She loves people and other animals, but she is no push over. She chases coyotes away and love how when I walk outside she runs ahead of me and barks at nothing to make sure the coast is clear. She is also very easy to walk, does not pull much. Listens, can let her run off leash and she stays close. She is very clear about what she wants and needs. Forget to fill her water bowl and she will let you know. Her only problem is she loves food to much.

I always thought about a female. I had my Misty and she was so gentle that we could leave her with babies and she would not even touch them. Misty only behaved once like a dog and stole some raw meat from the kitchen. The ceramic pot broke and I yelled. From then on, she even waited for her bones during a barbecue

I think it is a good idea that you get a dog. A German Shepherd Dog is a good choice. My wife and I are dog people. Right now we have a Brittany and a Schnauzer. In the past we've had Labrador Retrievers and a mixed breed.

Glad to hear that you are going to be getting a dog. She will be a good companion and good protection for you. I am more of a cat person. I do like dogs but where we both work and we travel a fair amount I couldn't commitment to a dog and it's needs. German Shepherds are beautiful. I prefer smaller dogs like a pug or a French bulldog.
