Belated check came in the mail

Yesterday I mentioned about my father's birthday card being late in the mail. Today it came in the mail, albeit two weeks late, when he sent it out on 5/22/17. Since I told him about my computer issues this month, including on Monday, he sent me a funny Wylie E Coyote birthday card and two checks in the mail! One check was for $110, the other for $300! That's more he has ever given me in two years combined. Although he says my computer is "dying", a bit of an exaggeration there, he said this might help with getting it repaired if not replaced. So I thanked him in an email today for the birthday cash to fix it. I guess I don't need to remove money from Paypal, just in case. This Friday, my brother is picking me up from the gym to take me to my haircut appointment that I had to reschedule almost two weekends ago. After that, we'll do some mini errands and go out for a post-birthday lunch, before he returns home to go back to work. Since I won't see him over this this weekend, when my food card won't be reloaded until next Monday, I'm going to mention my computer woes to my brother during lunch. Maybe he would agree to setting an apointment with Apple's Genius Bar to get it looked at next weekend or later this month. My dad had mentioned Best Buy's Geek Squad previously. When I talked to someone about it last week at the gym, they said it was $600-1000 to get them to your home before the diagnosis of the computer. When I had a topcase problem with my laptop two years ago, I was offline for 2 weeks. It had cost me $180 plus getting an USB drive. I'm hoping the repair would fall into that category to fix my shift key issue and get me out of safe mode if nothing else. As for Upwork, I'll cross that bridge when I come to it. I might have to do it at the library or take that time off, if it's okay with my client.
