Who is Kendra and why should I care if she's On Top

I like watching CSI and Law & Order on cable television when I get home from school in the afternoon. What I don't like is the annoying commercials about the ridiculous "reality" TV shows that play on those stations later in the evening. The promo that's been getting most on my nerves lately is the one for the next {idiotic} episode of Kendra On Top. I cannot begin to understand why anyone gives a hoot about who Kendra is or why they care anything about her. Can someone tell me who Kendra is and why anyone should care if she's On Top?

I'd be curious if your husband is as annoyed by those "Reality" TV show promos as I am.

I really hate reality shows. I don't understand why anyone watches them! I did enjoy American Idol, but that's about the extent of my interest in "reality" sorts of shows... Oh but I do like some cooking shows.

American Idol was more of a talent show than a reality show, IMHO. I never watched it because I cannot stand Simon Crowell.

@jillybean1222 I used to enjoy So You Think You Can Dance. The choreography was really something to watch and it was interesting to watch the contestants working hard to learn each new dance. The appeal was that these were real people who wanted to become professional dancers and who were getting great training. Some of the cooking-themed reality shows were good for that too, as are the singing-themed ones. What I don't get is why anyone wants to watch a bunch of strangers flirting or people spanking each other or eating bugs. There's only so many times you can watch that before it becomes an absolute bore.

Are you talking about that one that used to work for Playboy? If that is the one, then that is probably why people care. Tells you where our society is at.

I have no idea if she used to work for Playboy. Since the cable channel the shows on doesn't show R-Rated scenes, I don't know why even the prurient would bother to watch.

I don't watch the show, but the promo is on every commercial break during Law & Order, which I do like. The other stupid show they run constant promos on is Growing Up Hip Hop.

@just4him You are not missing anything, judging by the promos. It is mostly people yelling at each other, and putting each other down.

Kendra is still on top? Haven't watched TV in awhile. Was kind of hoping she'd go away, but I guess not.

Who is she and why does anyone care what her mother writes about her in a "tell-all" book?

@DWDavis - What little I know from watching commercials is that she's married to former NFL receiver Hank Basket, who I remember having a decent season once with the Eagles. And that's all I know.

I quite agree with you! I avoid reality shows and a lot of the comedy series too. They don't seem to be about anything at all. I'm like you: I enjoy the police procedurals, forensics and medical dramas, and the courtroom dramas. I've watched so many good ones over the years, both American and Canadian productions. There are even a few international series I've enjoyed through Netflix. I love the relatively recent international collaborations like The Bridge and the related European series, in which the acting is done in two languages.

I am coming to enjoy some of the British mystery series as they are much more plot and dialog driven and don't so much rely on gee-whiz science and action.

That's like saying does anyone really care about the Kardashians?

I don't think anyone really cares about the Kardashians, other than to revel in their troubles.
