A friend of mine asked me,' Do you know the member you are interacting with is a man or a woman?' 'No',I said, ' I don't. And it doesn't matter to me.All I know is the person I am interacting with is a member of mylot, and that's it.' Do you care whether the member you are interacting with is a man or a woman?

Sometimes it is difficult for me to identify whether I am talking to a men/women. The problem arises when we interact to others about that person, at times, is it needed to mention he/she, that time I got struck, I was not sure the person’s gender as it is difficult to predict from user name. But on the long run, we can understand it by way of their talking, if it is female must talk about hubby and vice versa. In case of unmarried also, they leave some clues without their knowledge. However, for replying to a topic, we don't mind the gender of the person.

It might depend on topic or the tone of the discussions sometimes, but most of the cases, it does not matter

I don't mind. If I do, I am taking the point of discrimination.

@Shavkat I agree. There is no point in knowing whether we are interacting with a man or woman.

@else34 that is correct, in the end, its the earning in the bank we are curious of and not the gender of our fellow mylotter.

It is helpful in interaction if we know about the gender of the person.

@else34 yes usernames and DP don't help to understand mostly if the person is male or female.

Surely it doesn't matter because mylot isn't a matrimony or a dating site where u have to be really concerned about the gender. Its just a platform for sharing wisdom with people and taking it in return from all round the world. :)

As long as the posts are meaningful and leave something for me to say, I do not mind the gender of the user.

I don't care whether it is a man or a woman. For me having a great interaction with the person is important. But there has been cases (when i didn't have a display picture) and people thought i was a male.

@Nawsheen Exactly.Interaction matters, but sometimes it becomes difficult to know who we are talking to.Usernames generally give us a wrong idea about their gender.

There was a person I commented back and forth with who I thought was a guy from the photo, but it turned out to be a woman.

@AbbyGreenhill LOL!! I had undergone a similar experience in old mylot.I responded to a discussion thinking that I was talking to a man,and finally came to know she was a young lady. She,on the other hand, had mistaken me as a girl who was like her younger sister.

Why? Is it a big deal if its male or female? I mean to me, it doesn't really matter.
