~Remember Ava? Heart Breaking~

Y'all remember the 3 year old girl Ava I watched the other night? She was such a sweet girl, so happy. I got a call this morning at 5am, I missed it because I'm sleeping at that time but it was a social worker. She asked me if I would take Ava in because her parents were both arrested and there's no family around. At first I reacted out of emotions and I wanted to take her. But after thinking and praying about it plus speaking to my husband...I know we can't take that sweet baby. =( I'm so heart broken. I just want to fix every child's life in the world. I want to help her but I can't and I HATE it. We have 5 children of our own though and they come first. She will probably end up in foster care and I don't want that for her! I want to give her a loving home...life is so unfair. I have been in tears multiple times since that call. I hate that I cannot fix the situation for that angel... Please pray for Ava and her parents.

On the other hand, there might be a very loving family out there in need of a little angel like her. And perhaps she'll find a better home. I really hope and pray that this turns out to be a blessing in disguise for her!

@CRK109 Your right, I just really liked her mom as well. :( I couldn't imagine having one of my babies taken away for a stupid mistake. Thank you for praying for her.

Oh goodness, this brings tears to my eyes. If I had been in your shoes, I would have wanted to take her in too., but having 5 kids, I see why you can't. I will keep her in my prayers.

I don't even know them / Ava and I started crying reading this. I feel the same way as you with wanting to help all kids. Poor girl. Unfortunately, foster care may be best for her. Depending on what actually happened with her parents.

@Courtlynn I know, it broke my heart in half. I loved this little girl as soon as I met her. She was full of smiles, hugs and laughter. I wish we could take her...but for more than one reason we just can't. =( They were arrested for a domestic dispute.

@LovingMyBabies is it possible that if they took parenting classes and counseling they could be reunified

That is very sad. I wish you could help her as well. Do you think your husband and yourself could become foster parents and take her in. I know at least in my state the government will give you money to help take care of her once you bring her in.

@CaseyRoss9966 No we can't become foster parents. =( I wish we could but there's reasons we can't so that's part of the reason we couldn't do it.

Most places, if you take her in, there is a financial stipend. I also understand that it is beyond monetary resources and goes to your time and energy. Hopefully her parents get themselves straightened out and can be reunited with Ava.

@Gardengerty Yeah it's more than the money aspect. I also don't want social workers at my home and I do have so much going on in my life. Plus the issue if the dad gets out and threatens our family because he wants her back...etc. We just can't put our own family in harms way.

That is so sad. The poor little darling. I wish I lived closer I would give her a home rather then see her go into foster care. She must be so scared and sad with both her mommy and daddy gone. She is so little and just understand. I hope me family steps up and gives you the loving home she deserves.

I understand how you feel. I've never taken in a little one but I've taken in what my oldest son always called "strays." Teens that had no where to go when their parents booted them out. Most of the time it was because of the new husband not like the kid. I'll never understand that. The system will find a safe, happy home for Ava.

@Bettyb It makes it harder because I have always wanted to help children in this way. But situations beyond my control won't allow me to. =( I have seen that situation many times where the mother chooses a boyfriend or husband over her child. Sad.
