Two words for new members : FAQ you !

I had a look at the profile of a new follower this morning. I usually follow back all followers having some activity, including you, new members. This follower was 1 day old and had already made 159 responses. I was ready to follow back when I had a deeper look. All the responses were 1 or 2 words responses like : «Yeah», «ok», «good»... Boy, with a simple macro software I am sure that you can be a lot more performing and respond to, let’s be reasonable, 400 to 500 discussions/hour with comments like these without even being in front of your computer, and that you will become soon a myLot millionnaire. Hmm, when something seems too good to be true, it is probably not true. When you join a new web site like myLot, you should always read first the holy scriptures of this site. We have several here, that you will find by clicking «Help» on the menu below your name. Our worshipped guidelines are telling you to not start «Discussions, responses or comments that offer little or no value - Answers like "I don't know" or "I don't care" help no one and will be removed.» Our respected FAQ says : «I don't have anything to contribute to a discussion, should I comment on it anyway? - If you have nothing useful to add to a discussion, you should simply move on and find one to which you can contribute. Simply replying with “I agree!” or “thank you” will likely result in your comment or response being removed. You may, of course, use the ‘Like’ feature to show that you have read the discussion and the responses and comments and think that they are worthwhile, even if you have nothing to say.» If you do not follow our holy scriptures, you are exposing yourself to the rigor of the Law. I checked again the profile of this member to start this discussion : all his 159 responses are gone ! It reminds me an old 17th C French fable, «The milkmaid and the pot of milk». A milkmaid, a pot of milk on the head, was going to the town to sell it, and was thinking at what she would do with the money of her milk. She would buy eggs that would give her chickens. With the money of the chickens she would buy a little pig. With the money of the fat pig, she would have enough to buy a cow and her calf. With... When she was dreaming, she felt down and her fortune spilled on the ground... New members, if you want to earn something here, read the guidelines and the FAQ and never try to game the system.

It ends by a fable with an alternative moral : When you are tempted to write a 4 four letters word (and I was, when I discovered these yeah/ok responses), just write it with 3 letters to stay polite.

The FAQ is a good complement to the guidelines, but some new members think that they do not need to read them. This discussion written for newbies has not received yet a response from one of them... even a "Thank you."

I found him irritating as well. Maybe he thought that he can earn fast that way. I also find it disrespectful to just comment "OK" to a discussion especially if it starts with a question which means that the mylotter should give an answer and not just two letters "Ok."

Yes, he tried to game the system, but as long as nobody likes or comments back, he cannot earn anything with this method, even if his spam responses had not been deleted. He should have better invested his spare time to read the help section to understand how myLot works.

@topffer Long fables for such young children to learn. Loved it and I was reading it in French before I looked at the English version. Read it through about three times to get the gist of it and then went to the English one to see if I had got it more or less right. Thank you very much for posting the link and I have learned a few verbs there in French. Okay not to pronounce them but I understand them yes as far as the fable goes.

I give you a link to the fable that I have found for another responder where you will find it in French, followed by an English translation. It is from Jean de La Fontaine who wrote several famous fables, among them some that French pupils have to learn by heart to recite them at elementary school. They are often funny, but not that easy for a young kid. New members should better read the guidelines and the FAQ instead of trying to game the system with 1 word responses : it does not work.
Didn’t your Mom always tell you “watch where you walk”?This charming and well known fable is the perfect example of why you should.

@lovinangelsinstead21 It is difficult for a foreigner. Many words are a bit obsolete, and these fables are difficult to learn for children today. The same happens with our great 19th C writers, even with Balzac who was writing a very simple French : many words are explained in school books, like if they were written in Latin. The global school level has lowered. 30 years ago about 40% of teens were having a high school diploma, now it is about 90%. It is not because they are better. The result is that an end school diploma is worth nothing today. The selection is done later at college, and it is a carnage : 50% of students are not reaching the second year of college...

Hello! I am a new member on this site. Are you a good person to follow? When will I receive my first million dollars from myLot? What should I do if the check from myLot doesn't arrive by the end of today? How much money have I made from talking on your discussion? Will that amount be added to the one million dollar check I will receive at the end of today? My friend on Facebook told me he is the owner of myLot and he guarantees these are all true facts. What time, exactly, do the checks for the day get passed out to us? I am hoping you can confirm all these facts for me, please? Thank you! I do appreciate your help with these.

I have only two words for you : F*** you, hmmm, FAQ you ! There is a small typo in the Earnings FAQ that I am correcting for you : "How much money do I have to earn before you will pay me? - At least $5." Instead of $5, you should read "$5m" : you will not receive one but five millions, because you need $5 millions to get a payout from myLot. You see how this site is generous?

We have a member who is far to be a newbie who specialized with these kind of borderline comments. "good" alone would have been deleted later by a bot, "good, ah ah ah", no. It is an art somewhere. I do not delete these kind of comments, we earn with them.

I think you have put it very concisely. Don't comment if you are going to make a run like the newbie did. It is always a good thing to read the guidelines before you get started or you could end up in the slush pile.

Your spin on this may catch some people's attention. We can only hope. I guess that person has not found me yet. I do have people who make somewhat empty responses, not to the subject, but they at least write a sentence or two telling me my writing is good to read.

It seems that 2 members (or the same with 2 profiles) did it yesterday, and one had his account deleted. Instead of trying to abuse the system to earn a few cents, they/he should have better read the help section. We all get times to times a response given just to earn a cent or to be pleasant with us because we responded to a discussion...

If people join MyLot just to make money, they will be sorely disappointed. In my book the money is just a bonus. I've made friends here and interacting with them is what I look forward to. I've read posts written by newbees. Some are good, others, not so much. The one and two word comments are annoying, but what really bugs me are the post that are one sentence long.

There are so many greedy scammers. There are also dumb people who think that they must survive somehow. They don` t care if it is fair to people who really make an effort. They don`t think if it is fair to the site owner who loses money and reputation with such members.

More a spammer than a scammer. He thought that he would make easy money with 1 or 2 words responses. After having had 159 responses deleted after 24 hours, this one will not do it again and has probably read the FAQ now.
